Eugene Pace

Eugene P. Pace, 89, formerly of Gretchen St. passed away the morning of May 31, 2013 at the Lawrence County Geri-Care Center.

Born on April 14, 1924 in New Castle, Eugene was the son of the late Pasquale and Catherine Alfera Pace. Surviving is his wife the former Helen M. Sousa who he married on June 16, 1945.

Eugene is a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. He retired from the Crane Company where he worked as a pattern maker. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and gardener. In earlier years, Eugene was an umpire for softball teams and refereed football games. Eugene enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and will be sadly missed.

In addition to his wife, Eugene is survived by his son, Gary Pace and his wife Carolyn of Centerville, TX; two grandchildren, Jennifer Snoderly and Cathy Pace; and three great-grandchildren.

Eugene is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Eugene Pace; his brother, John Pace; and an infant sister, Pauline.

Visitation is Tuesday from 4PM to 7PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. A Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday at 12Noon at the funeral home officiated by Rev. Father Frank Almade of St. Vitus church. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military honors at the funeral home.

Interment will take place at Castleview Memorial Gardens.

John Ferry

John N. Ferry, 73, of Highland Terrace Apartments passed away the morning of May 31, 2013 at the Avalon Nursing Center.

Born in New Castle on May 22, 1940, John was the son of the late Charles and Ruth Stafford Ferry. He is preceded in death by his wife, the former Eleanor Leonhardt Show who he married on December 5, 2000.

John had worked at Babcock and Wilcox Steel Mill as a mill worker. He was also the former owner of the Boron Gas Station on Highland Ave. and during his retirement, John enjoyed selling NASCAR memorabilia. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting. He was a avid Pittsburgh sports fan and loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and NASCAR. He cherished spending time with his family and grandchildren and will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his children, John J. Ferry and his wife Helen; Amy Strobel and her husband William, both of New Castle; his sister, Esther Wheale and her husband Wesley of Rehoboth, DE; his former wife, Carol Ferry of New Castle and four grandchildren, David Ferry, Nicole Ferry, Zachary Strobel and Zayne Strobel.

In addition to his parents and wife, John is preceded in death by his three brothers, Michael, Charles and Robert Ferry.

Visitation is Monday from 5PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd.

Services will be conducted on Tuesday at 10AM at the funeral home by Pastor James Hockenberry of Harmony Baptist Church. Burial will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Dale Payne

Dale E. Payne, 62, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly the afternoon of May 30, 2013 at Jameson Memorial Hospital.

He was born September 18, 1950. Dale was a son of the late John and Laura Pia Payne. Dale married the former Debbie Menges on November 24, 1978. She survives at home.

He was a graduate of Neshannock High School. Dale was employed as the service director at Preston Motors in New Castle for 25 years. He was a classic car enthusiast. Dale loved restoring cars and could usually be found in the garage. He also enjoyed drag racing. He loved spending time with his family and adored his dog, Freddie. Dale was a generous man who was always willing to lend a hand. Whether it was helping someone fix their car or helping with home improvement projects, he was always there.

In addition to his wife Debbie, survivors include two daughters, Stacy Payne and Elizabeth Payne, both of New Castle.

In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by a sister, Gail Payne, and several aunts and uncles. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2pm to 6pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd.

A service will take place Monday at 10:30am at the funeral home, conducted by Mr. Chip Chamberlain.

Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery.

Charles Gibson

Charles W. Gibson, Sr., 73, of Worthington Ave passed away at his home the morning of May 30, 2013. He was born to the late Charles and Beatrice Ricker Gibson on January 5, 1940. He married Carol Sallmen on January 10, 1964. She survives at home.

He had worked as an auto body repairman at the Bump Shoppe. Prior to that, he had also worked at Buds Auto Body and Pearsall Auto. He enjoyed woodworking and, in his early years, motorcycling and boating. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Charles W. Gibson, Jr. and Ruth Conti and husband Anthony, both of New Castle; a brother, William Gibson of New Castle; two grandchildren, Brandon Conti and Lanna Conti; and a great-grandchild, Anthony Quinn. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Gibson.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5pm to 7pm at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A service will take place on Saturday at 10am at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Dennis Bupp.

Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery.

Josephine Daltorio

Josephine C. Daltorio, 96, of Neshannock Township passed away the evening of June 3, 2013 at the St. John’s Specialty Care Center in Mars, Pa.

She was born on March 8, 1917 in New Castle and was the daughter of the late Emilio and Rosalba Liberatore Daltorio. She was a member of St. Vitus Church.

Josephine enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family at the family homestead. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, Josephine is preceded in death by her five sisters, Rose Daltorio, Flora Daltorio, Verbena Gaydos, Mary Daltorio, Irissa Grande and her three brothers, Edmund Daltorio, Nicholas Daltorio and Eugene Daltorio.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11AM at St. Vitus Church officiated by Rev. Father William Siple of St. Vitus Church.

Entombment will take place at the Resurrection Mausoleum.

Richard Lukehart

Richard C. Lukehart, 82, of E. Division St. passed way the evening of May 29, 2013 at the Beaver Medical Center. Born on December 6, 1930 in New Castle, Richard was the son to the late Earl and Ida Mae Young Lukehart. Surviving is his wife the former Theresa Gensante who he married on June 30, 1956.

Richard was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War Era and was stationed in Germany from January 1952 to December 1953. He was a member of St. Vitus Church. He retired in 2002 from LTV Steel Corporation where he worked as a steelworker for fifty three years. After retirement he worked as a part time custodian for the Union School District from 2004 to 2009. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family and will be sadly missed.

In addition to his wife, Theresa, Richard is survived by his son, Earl Lukehart of New Castle and his brother, William Lukehart of Florida.

Visitation is Sunday from 5PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St.

A procession will leave the funeral home on Monday at 1:00PM for St. Vitus Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30PM. Rev. Father Nicholas Vaskov of St. Vitus Church will officiate.

Entombment will take place at Parkside Cemetery and Mausoleum.

Elsie Fulmer

Elsie A. Fulmer, 88, of Golden Hill Nursing Home, formerly of Taylor St. passed away the afternoon of June 4, 2013 at Jameson Hospital.

Born in New Galilee, Pa. on July 23, 1924, Elsie was the daughter of the late Theodore and Rose Bolini Pagani. Preceding her in death on July 31, 2005 is her husband, Clifford H. Fulmer, who she married April 10, 1942.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Elsie had been a waitress for twenty five years at Troggio’s Restaurant. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, crocheting and cherished the times she spent with her family.

Survivors include her two children, Charles E. Fulmer and his wife Diann, Esther Selby and her husband William, both of New Castle; her grandchildren, Nicole Toombs, Lisa Colich and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Elsie is preceded in death by her brother, Ambrose Pagani and her sisters, Mary Keebler and Louise Orlando.

Visitation is Thursday from 5PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St.

A Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 10AM officiated by Pastor Nathan Loudon of First Presbyterian Church.

Harold King

Harold W. King, 79, of 222 W. Lincoln Avenue passed away the evening of June 5, 2013 in Jameson Hospital.

He was born May 21, 1934 in Imperial, PA and was the son of the late Claude M. and Hallie E. Grinage King. He was married to the former Lorraine Wilson. She preceded him in death in 1995.

Mr. King retired from Aliquippa and Southern Railroad Company where he worked as a brakeman and was a United States Army veteran. Harold loved sports, especially football. He was very easy going and had a big heart. His greatest joy was the time spent with his family and he will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Harold is survived by nine children, Rhonda King, Harold King, Scott King, Lavonne King and Joe King all of Pittsburgh, Bruce Goode, Shavaughn Goode and Jerome Goode all of New Castle and Shawana Goode of Ohio; brother, Donald King of Canonsburg; sister, Grace Spears of Canonsburg; twenty one grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by, two sisters and eight brothers.

Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 941 S. Mill Street. A service will be conducted on Monday at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Apostle David M. Young, Sr. of Prevailing Word World Outreach Center will officiate. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military rites at the funeral home on Monday.

Dorothy Jane Huff Palmer, 83, of English Avenue passed away the morning of June 7, 2013 at her residence.

She was born September 2, 1929 in New Castle and was the daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth Grim Huff. She is survived by her husband, Donald G. Palmer who she married on December 5, 1947.

Mrs. Palmer was a Union High School graduate. She was a restaurant manager working for KFC Restaurants in the area. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, Dorothy is survived by a son, Donald H. Palmer and wife Dawn of Enon Valley; daughter, Joni L. Dottle of New Castle; sister, Patricia Calvert and husband Bill of Ocala, FL; brother, Donald Huff of New Castle; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister; Delores Barkley and a brother, John (Jack) Huff.

Albert Pidro, Jr., 69, of Union Township passed away the afternoon of June 8, 2013 in Jameson Hospital.

He was born July 8, 1943 in New Castle and was the son of the late Albert, Sr. and Rose Pidro. He is survived by his wife, the former Herta Hietsch who he married on January 20, 1973.

Mr. Pidro was a bank manager retiring in 2003 from First Commonwealth Bank. Following his retirement he worked part-time as a credit manager for Klafters, Inc. Albert was an avid golfer and a member of St. Vitus Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Erika Pidro-Holmes and husband William IV of Saxonburg; sister, Rosella Pidro Kendall and husband David of New Wilmington and three grandchildren, Isabella, William V and Sophia.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 941 S. Mill Street. Henry Lombardo, 63, of Galilee Rd. passed away the afternoon of June 9, 2013 at his residence in Wampum.
Born in New Castle on October 4, 1949, Henry was the son of the late Harry and Nellie Cappatt Lombardo.

He was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Parish. Henry had worked for Universal Rundle for fourteen years and had recently worked for the Emite Lighting Company before retiring. He enjoyed watching wrestling, photography, classic cars and loved animals.

He is survived by his daughter, Valerie Romonsky and her husband Walter, Jr. of West Pittsburg; his close friends with who he resided with, Linda and Ron Norton of Wampum and his grandchild, Walter Romonsky, III and one niece, Tara Lombardo Cini and her husband Thomas of New Galilee.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Peter P. Lombardo and sister, Mary Marie Lombardo.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5PM to 7PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. A Blessing Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 10AM officiated by Rev. Father William Siple of St. Vincent De Paul Parish.

Hugh D. (Pete) Clements, Sr. 54, of E. Main St. passed away the evening of June 8, 2013 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born on July 31, 1958 in New Castle, Hugh was the son of the late Hugh W. and Loretta Black Clements. Surviving at home is his spouse, the former Irene Robertson who he married on September 9, 1978.

Hugh formerly worked as an roofer. He enjoyed working on cars and playing his guitar.

In addition to his wife, Hugh is survived by his two children, Hugh Clements, Jr. and Kimberly Clements both of New Castle; his brother, Timothy Clements of New Castle; four sisters, Loretta Mae, Chi Chi, Martha and Nancy all of New Castle and one grandchild, James Grooms.

John R. Scully, 63, of Kennerdell, PA, passed away the morning of June 11, 2013 at Edison Manor Rehabilitation Center. He was born in New Castle on July 9, 1949 to Mary (Caparoula) Scully and the late William H. Scully, Sr. His father preceded him in death, and his mother survives in New Castle. John married the former Rhonda Lewis who survives.

John retired from CSX Railroad where he worked as a brakeman. He was a former member of St. Vitus Church. An avid sportsman, he loved golf, fishing, and hunting. He also loved spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his mother and wife, John is survived by a son, Christopher Scully of New Castle; two stepsons, Mike Rice and Greg Rice, both of New Castle; brother, William H. Scully, Jr. of New Castle; and three step-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 12Noon to 2PM at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St, followed by a blessing service at 2PM at the funeral home.

Interment will take place at St. Vitus Cemetery.

Julia J. Pallerino, 72, of W. Clayton Street passed away the afternoon of June 18, 2013 in UPMC Passavant Hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was born December 26, 1940 in New Castle and was the daughter of the late Andrew and Louise DiRenzo DiBacco. She is survived by her husband, Michael J. Pallerino, Sr. whom she married October 22, 1960.

Mrs. Pallerino worked as a sales clerk for both Fisher Big Wheel and later for the Liz Claiborne Store. Julia loved cooking and baking for her family and spending time with family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother who’s greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Michael J. Pallerino, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Rod Pallerino and wife Melissa of New Castle and Jeffrey Pallerino and wife Jodi of New Castle; brother, Andrew DiBacco and wife Patty of New Castle; sister, Paula Parenti and husband Patsy of New Castle; sister-in-law, Jennie DiBacco of Scottsdale, AZ and nine grandchildren, Andrew, Alec, Macy Julia, Christopher, Jonathan, Matthew, Joshua, Tyler and Megan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Domenick DiBacco.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3000 Wilmington Road. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated by Father Nicholas Vaskov on Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Church. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:15 AM for church. Michael Cioppa

Michael J. Coppa, 89, of Meadowview Blvd., formerly of Lutton St. passed away the evening of June 19, 2013 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born on March 29, 1924 in Herkimer, N.Y., Michael was the son of the late Louis and Louise Cioppa. Surviving is his wife, the former Margaret Ezzo, whom he married on May 10, 1952.

Michael was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific Theater of Operations during WWII. Michael was a devoted member of St. Vitus Church and the Holy Name Society of the church where he was named Father of the Year. He had served on the first Parish council and had also served as president of the Parent-Teacher Guild. He volunteered annually at the St. Vitus Bazaar and golfed and bowled with the Parish’s leagues. Michael owned and operated the Croton Cafe from 1978 to the time he retired in 1985. He had worked for the Johnson Bronze Company as a machine operator for thirty six years and also worked for Casalandra Metal Stamping. Known for his wit and humor, he loved gardening, golfing and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. He cherished the times he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Margaret, three children, Michael Cioppa and his wife Betty Ann of New Castle; Cynthia Pagliaroli of Hermitage; Amy Rich and her husband Ralph of Hubbard, OH; his brother, Pat Cioppa and his wife Rose Marie of New Castle; two sisters, Mary Curry, Angie Dess and her husband Chuck, both of New Castle; and his five grandchildren, Christina Cioppa, Anna Marie Cioppa, Tony Pagliaroli, Ralph Rich, and Andrew Rich. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant brother.

Visitation is Sunday from 4PM to 7PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home on Monday at 9:30AM for St. Vitus Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM. Rev. Viola A. Esposito, 90, of New Castle passed away the morning of June 23, 2013 in Golden Hill Nursing Home.

She was born August 23, 1922 in New Castle and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Domenick Naples. She is survived by her loving husband of seventy one years, Andrew A. Esposito, Sr.

Mrs. Esposito in her earlier years worked for American Can and then later as a cook for the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She was a dedicated and lifelong member of St. Vitus Church. Viola was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Andrew Esposito, Jr. and wife JoAnn, Ronald Esposito, Sr. and wife Karen and Richard Esposito and wife Karen all of New Castle; four grandchildren, Brad Esposito, Brian Esposito, Jennifer Fedrizzi and Ronald Esposito, Jr. and four great grandchildren, Sarah, Nicholas, Aliana and Sasha.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Thomas and Peter Naples and two sisters, Marie Marmo and Irene Sandora.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at St. Vitus Church. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at the church at 11:00 AM. Father Sam Esposito, nephew of Mrs. Esposito will officiate. Entombment will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.

Margaret Frengel

Margaret L. Frengel, 76, of Windsor Ridge passed away the evening of June 22, 2013 at her residence.

She was born October 24, 1936 in New Castle and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Colia Morelli. She is survived by her husband, Joseph M. Frengel whom she married September 17, 1953.

Mrs. Frengel lived for thirty two years in California before moving back to New Castle. While residing in California she operated a ceramics business. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In earlier years, she was very active in her children’s schools and was a member of the school PTA. Margaret was a member of St. Vitus Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Arthur Frengel and wife Renee of Santa Rosa, CA, Joseph Frengel of Cedar Park, TX and Michael Frengel and wife Romina of Boston, MA; sister, Arlene Brooks of Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Sarah, Katharine and Joseph and six great grandchildren, Rylan, Miles, Jackson, Sarena, Ethan and Tristan.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 – 10:30 AM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3000 Wilmington Road. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated by Father William Siple on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Vitus Church.

Raymond Van Kirk , 69, of Paden Rd. passed away the evening of June 21, 2013 at his residence in North Beaver Township.

Born on February 7, 1944 in Enon Valley, Pa., Raymond was the son of the late Richard C. and Eunice Shasteen Van Kirk. He is survived by his longtime companion, Kathy Hosler.

Raymond had worked as a driver for the Mitchell, Long and Leeway Trucking Companies. He was the previous owner of Van Kirk Racing, Ray’s Trucking Company and the Miq, Tiq and Arc Shop. Raymond enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a former member of the Enon Rod and Gun Club and a lifetime member of the North America Hunting Club. Raymond built motorcycles, dragsters and was an accomplished musician.

In addition to his companion, Kathy, Raymond is survived by his two children, David Van Kirk and his wife Deb of Wampum, Pa; Michele Van Kirk of Conway, Pa; two brothers, Glenn Van Kirk of East Palestine, Oh; Donald Van Kirk of Granville, Oh; and his three grandchildren, Alexei Van Kirk, Chad Kirkpatrick and Amber Kirkpatrick.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marion Coon.

There are no calling hours and services are private. Interment will take place at Little Beaver Cemetery.

Frank T. Recklaw, 79, of Lee Avenue passed away the afternoon of June 25, 2013 at his residence.

He was born in Akron, OH on April 1, 1934 and was the son of the late Albert and Ethel Cross Recklaw. He is survived by his loving wife of forty seven years, the former Helen A. Reimer.

Mr. Recklaw retired from Den-Vend where he worked as a truck driver. He enjoyed gardening and doing mechanic work. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend and will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Alan Recklaw and wife Sharon of Akron, OH, James Recklaw, Babs Peoples and husband Jeffrey and Sheila Shevitz and husband Edwin all of New Castle, Daniel Recklaw and wife Jean of Longs, SC and Jack Recklaw of Atwater, OH; sister, Ernestine (Cookie) Fletcher of Atwater, OH; best friend, Thomas Scurlock of New Castle; twenty three grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Frank Recklaw, Jr; seven brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 AM – 12:00 Noon at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 941 S. Mill Street. A service will be conducted at 12:00 Noon on Friday at the funeral home. Pastor John Yergan of First Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Parkside Cemetery.
