Charles N. Mangino, Sr., 78, of E. Washington Street, New Castle passed away peacefully the morning of March 8, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 30, 1934 in New Castle and was the son of the late Sandy and Anne Rotunno Mangino. On July 5, 1958 he married his wife the former Shirley Mae Frank. She preceded him in death September 8, 1999. He later married his second wife, Thelma Dantonio Tuscano on November 10, 2006. She survives. Mr. Mangino lived in the Mahoningtown section of New Castle most of his life. He graduated from New Castle High School and played high school football. After high school, he started his first business, Sandy and Chuck Clothing Store. As a lifelong entrepreneur he had owned several businesses. He was best known as the owner of S&C Food Mart in Mahoningtown, which is now Mangino’s Pizzeria. Charles had served on the board of Mahoning Finance for many years and currently served as president of the company for the past few years. He was a United States Army veteran, serving in Fort Riley, Kansas and was honorably discharged. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish. Mr. Mangino is survived by three children, Veronica Izzo and husband Joseph of Hermitage, Daniel Mangino of New Castle and Charles Mangino, Jr. of Naples, FL; daughter-in-law, Johanna Yakubic Mangino of New Castle; sister, Palma Argiro of New Castle; stepchildren, James Tuscano and wife Trish of Columbiana, OH, Michael Tuscano and wife Christine of Greensboro, NC and Kimberly Ferrese and husband Craig of New Castle; grandchildren, Jessica Gibb and husband David, Ali Izzo, Chailse Mangino, Brittany Mangino and Michael Mangino and step grandchildren, Jessie Tuscano, Amanda Tuscano, Carlie Tuscano, Lauren Tuscano, Acacia Ferrese and Lexie Ferrese. In addition to his parent and first wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers Sandy Mangino, Thomas (Bear) Mangino and Robert (Bobby) Mangino. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 941 S. Mill Street, New Castle. Military rites will be conducted by the New Castle Area Honor Guard on Tuesday morning at the funeral home at 9:15 AM. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Tuesday for a mass of christian burial to be celebrated by Father Frank Almade at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Church, New Castle. Interment will be in St. Lucy Cemetery.

Viola Colundrello
Viola R. Colundrello, 77, of 251 Kay Street, Wampum, PA passed away the morning of March 9, 2013 in Butler Memorial Hospital. She was born July 23, 1935 in Wampum and was the daughter of the late William and Julia Andrews Seaburn. On December 3, 1949 she married her husband, the late Salvatore (Sam) Colundrello, Sr. He preceded her in death December 6, 2012. Mrs. Colundrello was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by three children, Salvatore (Sam) Colundrello, Jr. and wife Penny of Columbiana, OH, Charles Colundrello and wife Judy of Bessemer and Cathalene Gatto of New Castle; sister, Margaret Warnick of Wampum; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Colundrello; four brothers and three sisters. There will be no calling hours and the service will be private. Norman Palus
Norman W. Palus, 88, formerly of E. Lutton St. passed away the morning of March 10, 2013 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born in New Castle on April 23, 1924, Norman was the son of the late Anthony and Katherine Santangelo Palus. Preceding him in death on June 19, 2001 is his wife, the former Dolores Biondi, whom he married on February 16,1953. Norman was a member of St. Vitus Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Rockwell International where he worked as an inspector in the Spring Division. Norman also had worked as a television repairman. He was a member of the Sons of Italy and enjoyed gardening, bocce and playing cards. Norman cherished the times he spent with his family and friends and will be sadly missed. Survivors include his four children, Denise K. Palus of New Castle; Norma Palus of Atlanta, GA; Marcia Palus of Boardman OH; David Palus and his wife Denise of New Castle; one brother, Donald Palus of Las Vegas, NV; two grandchildren, David Palus, Jr., Alexander Monstwil and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Norman is preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest Palus, Robert Palus, Harry Palus and five sisters, Viola Fazzone, Louise Cicerone, Clementina Leitera, Albina Frengel and Lucille Thomas. Visitation is Wednesday from 10AM to 11:30AM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military honors at the funeral home on Wednesday morning. Rosemarie Gunnett
Rosemarie A. Gunnett, 79, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of March 9, 2013 at Jameson Hospital. Born in New Castle on September 18, 1933, Rosemarie was daughter to the late Frank and Elizabeth Piccirilli Marchionda. Surviving at home in New Castle is her husband, Samuel T. Gunnett, whom she married in September of 1961. After graduating from New Castle High School in 1951, Rosemarie earned her nursing degree from the St. Francis School of Nursing in 1954. She then attended Penn State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Nursing degree in 1989. She worked at St. Francis Hospital during her entire nursing career. Rosemarie was Charge Nurse of the Psychiatric unit for many years, and later in her career she was the Admissions/Guidance Counselor for the school of nursing where she helped many students fulfill their vocation in the health care industry. In earlier years, Rosemarie and Sam enjoyed traveling to Italy and tracing their family history. She is survived by her husband and a number of cousins. In addition to her parents, Rosemarie was preceded in death by her in-laws, Theodore and Irene Gunnett. Visitation is Wednesday from 12PM to 1:30PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Jean Eileen Ciletti, Age 88, of New Galilee, PA, entered into the gates of glory with her savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 12, 2013. Beloved and devoted wife of 64 years of James Adam Ciletti; loving mother of Joyce (William) Bender of Moon Township, PA and Joy (David) Kelly of Bessemer, PA. Jean enjoyed gardening, cooking, watching westerns, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in New Castle, PA. There are no calling hours. Betty Walker Eisenhuth
Betty E. Walker Eisenhuth, 92, formerly of Melvin Dr.,New Castle, passed away the morning of March 9, 2013 at the Haven Convalescent Home. Mrs. Eisenhuth was born in Nettleton, Pa. on September 23, 1920 to the late James D and Maude H. Walker. Also preceding her in death is her husband, Gilbert S. Eisenhuth, whom she married on September 3, 1941. Mrs. Eisenhuth lived in Butler for many years. She graduated from Butler Senior High School in 1938 and attended Indiana State Teachers College. She lived in East Brady where her husband, his brother, John Eisenhuth and sister, Lucille Replogle owned The Narrows Inn. She also lived in Clarksburg, WV., South Bend, IN., Wheeling, WV and Bridgeport, WV where her husband was Branch Manager for Associates Discount Corporation. Mrs Eisenhuth and her husband owned and operated the Gravely Power Equipment Dealership in New Castle until his death on April 7, 1974. Mrs. Eisenhuth retired in 1988 after fourteen years as Office Manager of the Midwestern Pa. Chapter of the American Heart Association. She was a member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church. Mrs Eisenhuth was also a member of The Irvine Bible Class, Prime Timers and Wimodausis Club. She is survived by her four nieces, Susan Stranahan of Niles, MI; Betsy Stranahan of Penbroke Pines, FL; Virginia Patrizi of Dallas, TX; Carol Stevenson of New Brighton, PA; three nephews, James C. Welsh of Penbroke Pines, FL; Dr. Richard S. Walker of Las Vegas, NV; Pastor James Lewis of Butler, PA; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and her dear friend, Elinore Snyder of New Castle. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs Eisenhuth is preceded in death by her two sisters, Agnes W. Lewis, Sarah W. Welsh and her two brothers, James B. Walker and Retired Colonel Richard S. Helen Fredericks, 94, of Edinburg, Pa. went to be with her Lord the morning of March 13, 2013. Born in Carbon, Pa. on July 4, 1918, Helen was the daughter of the late Nick and Stella Visnick. Preceding her in death on December 19, 1971, is her husband, Albert T Fredericks, Sr., whom she married on September 22, 1941. She was a member of St. Jude’s Episcopal Church. Helen was a homemaker and enjoyed bingo, playing the card game thirty one, visiting casinos and bowling. She loved spending time with her family and cherished the times she spent with her grandchildren. Survivors include her four children, Samuel Fredericks and his wife Bonnie of Frizzelburg; Albert T. Fredericks, Jr. of Hillsville; Sally Braho of Edinburg; Helen Paiano and her husband Ron of Edinburg; her sister, Mary McLandrich of Struthers, OH; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Kenneth Braho, Sr., daughter-in-law, Linda Fredericks, two brothers, Steve Visnick, Sam Visnick and her sister, Mildred Visnick. Joyce L. Heaney, 56, of Avalon Dr. passed away the morning of March 15, 2013 at her sister’s residence in Union Township. Born in New Castle on March 24, 1956, Joyce was the daughter of Gerald A. DuBrock and Joann A. Fuleno. Her father survives and resides in Hillsville and her mother preceded her in death. She is also survived by her step-father, Ray Keller of New Castle. Surviving at home is her husband, James Heaney who she married in 1981. In earlier years, Joyce had worked as a office manager for Extra Support Staffing in West Virginia. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Joyce is survived by her children, Michelle Halaja and her husband George of Dillionvale, OH; Richard Heaney and his wife Amanda of Vienna, WV; her brother, Levi DuBrock of Spokane, WA; three sisters, Liz Davis, Gay Reef, Nancy DuBrock, all of New Castle and six grandchildren. In addition to her mother, Joyce is preceded in death by her aunt and uncle who raised her, Margaret and Wilford Gwin. Geraldine(Gerry) Wilson Malizia, 80,of Overlook Medical Clinic in New Wilimngton, Pa. passed away the evening of March 16, 2013 at Jameson Hospital in New Castle. Born in New Castle on December 30, 1932, Gerry was the daughter of the late Alex and Sarah Covert Wilson. Gerri was a homemaker and enjoyed taking walks at Pearson Park. She cherished the times she spent with her family. Survivors include her children, Georgiann Malizia of Warren, Oh; Carmen Jean Malizia and her husband Tony Harper of Atlanta, Ga; Cindy Longo and her husband Mike, Sr. of Boardman, Oh; son-in-law, Joseph Chill, Jr. of New Castle; her three nieces and three grandchildren, Brittany Duran, Michael Longo, Jr. and Nicollette Longo. In addition to her parents, Gerry is preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Chill, her former husband, George Malizia and her two sisters, Ina Maxwell and Helen Weingartner. Otto Pardick
Otto “Bud” Pardick, 86, of Edison Manor, formerly of Carson St, passed away on the afternoon of March 18, 2013 at Jameson Hospital. He was born on February 2 1927 to the late William and Hazel Anderson Pardick in New Castle. Otto served in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from the New Castle Transit Authority where he worked as a bus driver. He is survived by his former wife, Maxine Gifford Pardick of New Castle, his three children: William Pardick and his wife Jodi of New Castle, Carole Iwanejko and her husband Rick of New Castle, and Karen Minteer and her husband Fred of Edinburg, PA, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 7 pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. Services will be held Thursday at 11 am at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Robert Turner
Robert H. Turner, 85, of New Castle, passed away the morning of March 21, 2013 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 9, 1927 to the late Howard and Nettie Brandt Turner. He married Helen S. Booher in July 1951, and they were happily together for 61 years. He served in the 1265th Engineer Combat BN in Germany during World War II. Robert retired from Columbia Gas where he worked as an inspector. He was also the co-owner of Turner’s Archery Shop. He was a former member of the First Reformed Presbyterian Church, formerly on Oak Street. Robert was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Along with his wife, Robert is survived by his two sons, Robert Turner and wife Linda of New Castle and Richard Turner and wife Tish of New Castle; one daughter, Carol McFarland and husband Alan of New Castle; brother, Howard Turner of New Castle; and two grandchildren, Emily Turner Wilkes and husband David and Bob Williams Turner and wife Michelle. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Colbert and Betty Kaufman. There will be a visitation held on Monday from 11 am to 1 pm at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. Services will be held on Monday at 1 pm at the funeral home by Rev. Virginia Muslin
Virginia L. Muslin, 78, of Patrick Drive, Portersville passed away the morning of March 23, 2013 in Edison Manor Nursing Home. She was born April 9, 1934 in Aliquippa and was the daughter of the late William and Marie Ball Oakes. She is survived by her husband, Rudy Muslin whom she married December 23, 1959. Mrs. Muslin retired from the Pittsburgh Public Schools where she worked as a teacher. She was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association. She was a loving wife and mother who will be missed by her family. In addition to her husband, Virginia is survived by a son, Ronald Muslin of New Castle; brother, James Oakes of Chicora and a sister, Pamela Bratich of Center Township. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Oakes and sister, Patricia Beatty. There will be no calling hours and a private service will be held on Tuesday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3000 Wilmington Road. Interment will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
Helen Huff
Helen Wainio Huff, 95, of Shenango Township, New Castle, PA passed away peacefully the evening of March 23, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 20, 1918 in New Castle to John Wainio and Augusta Linna Wainio. On July 13, 1936 she married her husband, the late Edward V. Huff whom she was married to for 67 years. He preceded her in death April 6, 2003. A lifelong resident of New Castle, Helen graduated from New Castle High School in 1936. Mrs. Huff was a devoted homemaker for her husband and seven children. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, its Mary Martha Guild and a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. Helen enjoyed gardening with her husband and cooking. She also enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Panthers on television. She especially cherished the time spent with her family and friends. Helen is survived by her five daughters, Sister Shirley Huff, OSF of New Castle, Regina M. Aiken and husband Merle of S. Amherst, OH, Deborah L. Cox and husband J. Craig of New Wilmington, Kathleen M. Gorgacz and husband Frank and Mary Beth Servedio and husband Michael all of New Castle; two sons, Edward G. Huff of New Castle and Dennis L. Huff and wife Cindy of Palm Bay, FL; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert (Bob) Whitman, Francis (Slim) Wainio and Elmer (Zeke) Wainio. Josephine Fundoots
Former New Castle resident, Josephine Fundoots, 99, of S. Main St. passed away the morning of March 24, 2013 at her residence in Munroe Falls, Ohio. Born in Rochester, Pa. on September 17, 1913, Josephine was the daughter of the late John Solomon Buzari and Rahme Haddad Solomon. Preceding her in death on April 16, 1999 is her husband, Andy Fundoots. She was a former member of St. Elias Orthodox Church in New Castle and a member of St. George Orthodox Church of Akron, Ohio. During WWII, Josephine worked as a Rosie The Riveter at Sharon Steel. Josephine retired at the age of 91 from Challenges where she worked as an Older Workers Employment Specialist. In 2004, she received the Gold and Silver Award from the Pennsylvania Department of Aging and the Governor’s Achievement Award, also from the Pennsylvania Department of Aging. Josephine also received the Experience Works Pennsylvania Senior Employee of the Year award in 2004. Josephine was known for being dressed to the nines in designers clothes, makeup and high heels. She believed all women needed to be strong and independent. Josephine was an avid walker, enjoyed working crossword puzzles and cherished the times she spent with her family and friends. She is survived by her six daughters, Jean Nevotne and her husband Ed of New Castle; Mary ‘Tootsie’ Hartzel and her husband Donald of Wampum, Pa; Joyce Allen of Waynesboro, VA; Eleanor Kendall and her husband James of Conway, SC; Jackie Johns and her husband Richard of New Castle; Sherry Vitone and her husband Patrick of Kent, OH; twenty one grandchildren, LouAnn, Annette, Linda, Frank, Dan, Linda Rae, Diana, Bobby, Paula, Sahra, Francesco, Andreas, Nico, Carol Ann, Elizabeth, Sam, Warren, Jamie, Jason, Dawn, Jodi, thirty six great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Josephine is preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Rae Sibeto, three brothers, Samuel Solomon, Phillip Solomon and Mitchell Solomon and her sister, Sally Moses. Violet E. Timm, 90, formerly of Union Township, passed away the afternoon of March 27, 2013 at the Jameson Care Center. Born in London, England on July 14, 1922, Violet was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary James Jeffrey. Preceding her in death in July of 1995 is her husband, Fred A. Timm whom she married on June 23, 1945 in London. She was a member of the New Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church and the Mahoning Valley Grange. Violet was a homemaker who loved to cook, bake and travel. Violet is survived by her son, Fred C. Timm of New Castle; three daughters, Brenda Timm of New Castle; Elizabeth Timm of New Castle; Mary Mitchell of Salem, OH; her brother, Ern Jeffrey of Hartfordshire, England; five grandchildren, Jennifer and Dennis Shield, Lisa Adams, Jamie and Will Long, Heather Mitchell, Joseph Mitchell and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Violet is preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Barnes, Mary Frampton, one brother, F.A. Jeffrey and one grandchild, Kristy Lynn Mitchell. Nancy L. Casciato, 72, of Barbour Place, passed away at her home on the evening of March 25, 2013 in New Castle. She was born on December 1, 1940 in New Castle to the late Fred and Elizabeth McConnell Colia. She married Michael Casciato on October 8, 1955, and they were happily married for 57 years. She dedicated herself to being a homemaker and always cherished times with family, friends, and neighbors on her back porch. Along with her spouse, Nancy is survived by three children: Michael Casciato and wife Abbie of Pembroke Pines, FL, Joni Cook and husband Carl of New Castle, and Cheryl Latore of New Castle; one sister, Sandra Baker and husband David of Medina, OH; five grandsons, and two granddaughters. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Anthony Colia. A private service was held on Friday, March 29, at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. officiated by Rev. Richard Nero. Interment took place at Graceland Cemetery.

Carmen A. Cucitrone, 82, passed away the morning of March 29, 2013 at Silver Oaks Nursing Home in New Castle. Born in New Castle on April 12, 1930, Carmen was the son of the late Carmen and Caroline Zona Cucitrone. Preceding him in death on September 8, 2007 is his wife, the former Ruth Magno. Carmen was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Operating Engineers Local No. 66 with the Ro-Med Corporation. Carmen was a former member of the Casa Savoi Club and the Sons of Italy. He also enjoyed camping and fishing. He is survived by his three sons, Carmen Cucitrone and his wife Francine, Edward Cucitrone and his wife Vanessa, Ronald Cucitrone and his wife Jo Ellen, all of New Castle; his brother, Lawrence Cucitrone of New Castle; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Carmen is preceded in death by his brother, Nunzio Cucitrone and two sisters, Philomena Graziani and Anna Alberico. A private service will be held on Monday at Castleview Memorial Gardens officiated by Rev. Dennis Bupp. Entombment will take place at Castle View Memorial Gardens. Edward Fosnaught
Edward W. ‘Obi’ Fosnaught, 70, of Carl St. passed away the morning of March 29, 2013 at his residence in New Castle. Born in Eden Valley, Pa. on April 11, 1942, Ed was the son of the late Harry and Katherine Bable Fosnaught. Preceding him in death on January 31, 2012 is his wife, the former Mary Tingley, whom he married on December 11, 1974. He retired from Babcock and Wilcocks Steel Corporation where he worked as a laborer. Ed was a member of the New Castle Elks and the Tow Jagielly Clubs. He enjoyed cutting grass, watching John Wayne movies and assisting the elderly. Survivors include his children, Josephine M. Weston and her husband David, Christina Fosnaught, both of New Castle; two brothers, Harry Fosnaught of Freedom, Pa; Richard Fosnaught of New Brighton, Pa; four sisters, Edna Fosnaught of Freedom, Pa; Doretta Fosnaught of SC; Loretta Folkner of SC; Thelma Fosnaught of Neglia, OH; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Edward was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Visitation is Wednesday from 4PM to 7PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. Following visitation, a Blessing Service will be held at the funeral home at 7PM officiated by Rev. Father William Siple of St. Vitus Church. Memorial donations may be directed to the family.
