Victor Stoner

Victor Stoner, 69, of 294 Clay Street passed away the evening of January 21, 2013 in Greenville Hospital. He was born July 27, 1943 in New Castle and was the son of the late William, Sr. (Belfiore) and Maria (Katie) Santomauro Stoner. In earlier years Mr. Stoner worked as an operator for Ro-Med Construction and in later years as an operator for Lindy Paving. He was a member of St. Vitus Church. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid golfer. He was a loving grandfather who’s greatest joy was spending time with his granddaughter. Victor is survived by one son, Justin Stoner of Edinburg; two daughters, Dana Kennedy of Pulaski and Giana Pace of Florida; brother, John Stoner and wife Phyllis of Transfer; sister, Maria Marcotullio and husband Frank of New Castle and one granddaughter, Makayla Stoner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Anthony Stoner, Sr., Renold Stoner, Fred Stoner and Bill Stoner, Jr. and one sister, Minnie Pisciuneri. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00PM – 8:00PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 941 S. Mill Street. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated by Fr. Nicholas Vaskov on Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. Vitus Church. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM for church. Interment will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.

Charlotte B. Searcy, 58, of W. Washington St. passed away the evening of January 22, 2013 at UPMC Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 1, 1954, Charlotte was preceded in death by both her parents, George Reed and Elizabeth Johnson. She enjoyed reading, playing bingo and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her two sons, Dennis Reed of Green County, PA; Charles Searcy of New Castle; three brothers, George Reed of New Castle; Manny Johnson of Baltimore, MD; Tony Reed of Queen Ann County, MD; two sisters, Jackie Currie of Baltimore, MD; Chanell Johnson of Illinois and five grandchildren. There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Margaret (Patty) Stalma, 75, of Erie Street, Edinburg passed away the afternoon of January 23, 2013 at her residence. She was born September 22, 1937 in Edinburg and was the daughter of the late Robert C. and Cora Mae Hoon Troutman. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Bernard (Sonny) Stalma. Mrs. Stalma was a homemaker. She enjoyed home interior and floral designing and had worked as a representative selling for Home Interiors. She also enjoyed scroll painting and was a family history enthusiast. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Richard A. Barker and wife Darla of New Castle and Robert L. Barker of New Castle; a daughter, Phyllis A. Sanner and husband Bill of New Wilmington; three brothers, John Troutman of New Castle, Henry Troutman of Corsica and Bill Troutman of New Castle; two sisters, Alice Jackson and Deborah Bradley both of New Castle; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, David Troutman and Clyde Troutman and two sisters, Mary Lou Troutman and Linda Yeaney. Visitation will be Monday from 5PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3000 Wilmington Road. A service will be held on Tuesday at 11AM at the funeral home. Reverend Bill Hunley of First Church of God will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Kimberly Smith, 48, of Division Street, Sharon passed away the morning of January 23, 2013 in UPMC Horizon. She was born July 8, 1964 in New Castle and was the daughter of the late Robert Cohen and Marion Smith. Kimberly was a Wrap Around Counselor for Sharon Regional Health System. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Slippery Rock University in 2011. She had also earned an Associate Degree in Human Development from Penn State University in 2007. She was a loving mother and grandmother who’s greatest joy was the time spent with her family. Kimberly was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church. She is survived by three children, Christopher Smith of Farrell, Darwin Green of Sharon and Natosha Shepherd of Sharon; brother, Calvin Smith of New Castle; sisters Marcella Smith and Tammy Smith both of New Castle and Juerena Smith of Pittsburgh and one grandchild, Chardazia Green. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Smith and a sister, Desiree Austin. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 12:00 Noon – 1:00 PM at St. Paul Baptist Church, 616 W. North Street, New Castle. A service will be conducted on Tuesday at 1:00 PM at the church. Victor A. Galmarini, Sr., 81, of Summit View Dr. died the morning of Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Jameson Hospital. He was born December 25, 1931 in New Castle, to the late Angelo and Rose Moneta Galmarini. He is survived by his wife, the former Louise Jannetti, who he married on May 29, 1954. He was a member of St. Camillus Church. Victor was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. He worked as an mechanic for the U.S. Post Office and also owned his own garage before retirement. Victor was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the American Legion Post No. 343 and past president of the Ostomy Club. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, playing cards and visiting casinos. He also loved watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Victor was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who lived for his family. He cherished the time he spent with them, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Victor is survived by his four daughters, Carol Stelts and her husband Dave of Edinburg; Vickie Gingras and her husband Gene of Chattanooga Tenn; Patty Julian, Laurie Alberico and her husband Mike, both of New Castle; one son, Victor Galmarini, Jr. of New Castle; two brothers, Angelo Galmarini, Jr. of New Wilmington; Anthony Galmarini of West Pittsburg; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Aldo Galmarini and his infant great grandson, Brian Michael Grande. Visitation is Tuesday from 4PM to 7PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military rites at the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 9:15AM. A procession will leave the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:30AM for St. Camillus Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM. Rev. Charles (Chuck) Farone

Charles Henry Farone of Newark, DE, and long-time resident of New Castle, passed away peacefully the evening of Thursday January 24th. He was born April 24, 1929 to Fred P. and Mary C. (Mastren) Farone and had one sibling, Fred Jr. (Buddy) who proceeded him in death in 1990. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict where he was enrolled in Special Services. It is there that he met his loving wife Carolyn (Seitz) who survives him. Next month would have been their 61st anniversary. The couple and their devoted daughter Cindy (deceased July 2011) resided for 28 years in Reno, NV before moving to Delaware for health reasons to be near family. ‘Chuck’, as he was always refered to, will always be known for his extraordinary musical talents. He was one of the area’s most respected and sought-after keyboardists and arrangers. He played professionally most of his life, both in New Castle and in many of the large casino/hotels in Reno and Lake Tahoe, NV. He was a member of Local 27 of the American Federation of Musicians here in New Castle where he was also a past President, along with his time with the Local in Reno, NV. He also headed the Reno Municipal Band. Chuck possessed a unique style of teaching. Along with his family, he owned and operated the area’s well-known FARONE MUSIC CENTER in Call’s Plaza for years where he perfected a technique of teaching students the organ en masse in a classroom setting. He also possessed the ability to build and repair band instuments, and was trusted by students, band directors and professional musicans both here and in the Reno, NV circles to keep their instruments of all types in tip-top shape. Chuck enjoyed all sports, especially professional tennis, which he watched with his wife. His favorite music was Big Band Swing and he loved to cook and entertain in his home. Along with his wife, he is survived by his sons David and his wife Eileen (Perrotta) of Delaware, and Anthony and his wife Cammy of Marietta, GA. Also three grandchildren, Cara, David Jr. and Alexis, and born this last year a wonderful great grand-daughter, Charlotte. No services are planned at this time. Placement of the cremated remains in the family’s mausoleum at St. Vitus Cemetery will occur at a later date. Details will be announced.

Obituary of Della N. (DeNuccio) Len A long-time resident of New Castle, born and raised in Mahoningtown, age 94, passed away prayerfully, 2 months shy of her 95th birthday and entered into eternal life on Monday, January 28, 2013. Della lived with her daughter, Diane, and her family, in Upper St. Clair for the past 11 years following the death of her beloved husband of 54 years, Walter P. Len. Loving mother of Diane (Jeff) Schmoyer of Upper St. Clair. Dear and proud grandmother of Matt and Christine Schmoyer. Preceded in death by her parents, Mario and Concetta (Zeppetella) DeNuccio and her brothers and sisters, Anna Vendemia, Benjamin DeNuccio, Armand and Raymond DeNuccio, Gloria Scaduto, Dorothy Frengel and Jean DeNuccio. Della was an Administrative Secretary for the former Mooney Brothers Trucking Co. She was, formerly, an active member of the St. Francis Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and, also, the New Castle Business and Professional Women’s Association. Della was a member of the former St. Lucy Mother’s Guild and served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Vincent de Paul parish. She served her church and family faithfully in ways unknown and unseen to most. Della received each day as a gift from God and felt most complete when being of service to others. Her life was an expression of Love and Devotion to her faith, family and all whose life crossed paths with her. Friends welcome on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home, 941 S. Mill St., New Castle. The procession will leave at 9:30 a.m. on Friday for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Vincent de Paul Parish on Friday at 10 a.m. with Fr. William Siple presiding. Jennie Pidro, 92, of Laurel Place passed away the afternoon of January 31, 2013 at her residence. Born in New Castle on February 26, 1920, Jennie was the daughter of the late Benedetto and Rosina Rubeis Capone. Preceding her in death on October 22, 1991, is her husband, Eugene (Jimmy) Pidro, who she married on August 16, 1941. A devoted Catholic, she enjoyed visiting many shrines over the years and was a member of St. Vitus Church. Jennie enjoyed baking, cooking and gardening. Jennie was also a member of the Ladies of the Dukes. Survivors include two daughters, Anita Prioletti of New Castle; Barbara Clark and her husband Harry of Boardman, OH; her nephew, who was like a son to her, Bennie Tomei of New Castle; her niece and caretaker, Stacie Stefano of New Castle; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Jennie is preceded death by four sisters, Emma Malizia, Annie Maronti, Lucy Giorgiantonio and Della Tomei and two sons-in-law, Dave Young and Andrew Prioletti. Private Blessing Services were conducted by Rev. Father William Siple of St. Vitus Church at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill ST. Born in Castlewood, Pa. on September 30, 1937, Dennis is the son of the late Walter and Elizabeth Crothers. Preceding him in death on June 26, 2012, is his wife the former Darlene M. Brown, who he married on September 15, 1956. Dennis was a former night watchman for the Housing Authority of Lawrence County. He enjoyed working in his yard, watching boxing, collecting coins and listening to country music. Survivors include his four sons, Jeffrey Crothers, Gary Crothers and Danny Lee Crothers, all of New Castle; Allen Crothers and wife Rhoda of Las Vegas; one daughter, Linda Schacht and husband Kevin of Winona, Minnesota; two brothers, Dave Crothers, Fred Crothers, both of New Castle; seven grandchildren and twenty five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Dennis is preceded in death by his sister, Jean. There are no calling hours and services are private.

Born in Edinburg, Pa. on September 10, 1925, Rose is the daughter of the late John and Josephine Carbon Romeo. Preceding her in death in 1984, is her husband, Patsy A. Frabotta, who she married in 1954. Rose was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church. In earlier years, Rose had worked as a clerk for Silvermans Shoe Store. Rose was a loving and devoted wife and mother and she cherished the times she spent with her family. Rose is survived by her two daughters, Patti Frabotta of New Castle; Corinne Surano and her husband, Rosario, Jr.(Sidy) of Hermitage; her three brothers, Vince Romeo of New Castle; Frank Romeo of Wilmington, NC; Rocco Romeo of New Castle and her two sisters, Mary Romeo Ross and Terri Morrone, both of New Castle. Albert S. Fleischer, Sr. of Bonzo St. passed away the morning of February 7, 2013 at Jameson Hospital. Born in New Castle on November 16, 1924, Albert is the son of the late George and Martha Kreusel Fleischer. Preceding him in death in 1999, is his wife the former Kathryn Reiter. Albert was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII. He retired from Mesta Machine Corporation where he worked as a crane operator and from Sylvan Heights Golf Course where he worked as a caretaker. Albert enjoyed fishing, music and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He cherished the times he spent with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by three sons, Jon Fleischer and his wife Sherry of Meadville; Albert Fleischer, Jr. and his wife Marlene of West Pittsburg; Bruce Fleischer of New Castle; two brothers, Paul Fleischer, Francis Fleischer, both of Florida; his sister, Dorothy Patterson of New Castle; six grandchildren, Shannon and Mark Horvath, Natasha and Don Mitcheltree, Leigh Fleischer, Christopher Fleischer, Jeff and Kari Ferguson, and Jon Fleischer, Jr. and Kathryn; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Albert is preceded in death by two brothers, George Fleischer, Karl Fleischer, one sister, Sophie Fleischer, three infant siblings and three great-grandsons, Tanner J. Mitcheltree, Hunter Horvath, and Travis Horvath. Visitation is Sunday from 4PM to 7PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Born in New Castle on November 5, 1921, Phyllis is the daughter of the late Vincent and Rose Scungio Merando. Preceding her in death on July 2,2009 is her husband, Perry L. Cavaricci, who she married on July 20, 1946. Phyllis was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church. She loved cooking, baking and preparing meals for her family. Phyllis was known for feeding everyone who stopped by her house. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who’s greatest gift was passing on traditions to her family. Phyllis cherished the time spent with her family and her greatest joy was her grandson and his wife. Survivors include her daughter, Roseann Tomochek and her husband David of New Castle and her grandson, David Tomochek, II and his wife Sarah. In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis is preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, John and Charlie Merando. Born in New Castle on January 12, 1921, Samuel is the son of the late Anthony and Louise Molinaro Mooney. Preceding him in death on February 17, 1986, is his wife the former Laura J. Stone who he married on October 12, 1946. Samuel was a member of St. Vitus Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Samuel retired from Lightning Express as an mechanic. Following retirement, he had worked at J&F Alignment. Samuel was a sports fanatic and enjoying watching all types of sports. Samuel was a kind hearted and caring husband, father and grandfather whose greatest joy was the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his daughter, Dottie Cook and her husband James of New Castle; one brother, Carl Mooney; two grandchildren, Ashley and Marcus and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Samuel is preceded in death by three sisters, Rose Pagley, Mary Carney, Gladys Sipe and five brothers, Joseph, Charles, James, Edward and Michael Mooney. Mary Cook, 93, of Laurel Place passed away the morning of February 9, 2013 at the Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born in New Castle on September 10, 1919, Mary is the daughter of the late Donato and Rosina Lastoria Prioletti. Preceding her in death on May 17, 2010 is her husband Raymond P. Cook, who she married on June 7, 1939. She was a member of St. Vitus Church. She was the head cook at Parkstown Restaurant in Union Township for over thirty years with her sister, Alice. Mary was one of the founders, and still a member, of Ladies of The Dukes where she served as it’s president in the early formative years. She was always involved with politics and served as Judge of Elections for the 3rd Ward, 6th precinct for over 55 years. Mary loved to cook and enjoyed traveling, especially to Italy. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished the times she spent with all her family. Survivors include her son, Ronald Cook and his wife Patty of New Castle; her sister, Alice Biordi of New Castle; her grandson, Raymond Cook and his wife Jennifer and two great-grandchildren, Camille Ann and Natalie Rae. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary is preceded in death by her sisters, Clara Colaluca, Ida Fenati, Ann Crisci and her brothers, Dr. John Prioletti, Anthony Prioletti, Floyd Prioletti and Andrew Prioletti. Born in London, England on March 3rd, 1944, Renee is the daughter of the late Albert and Louise Brown Plummer. Surviving at home is her husband, James Grehan, whom she married June 6th, 1970. She was a Sales Associate for Sears for 10 years. Renee was also a member of the Women in Business group, was the past Vice-President of Shanache, and loved gardening. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Kevin Grehan of Imperial, PA and her brother, Ron Plummer of England. Renee is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Pamela Ward.
