Diane Toney, 56, of E. Long Ave passed away the morning of April 23, 2014 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Born in Ellwood City, PA on May 6, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Kathleen P. LeFebvre Kelley. Surviving her at home is her beloved husband, Dave Toney, who she married in July 1994. Diane worked as a produce manager for Save-A-Lot and formerly had been an owner and operator of Dave’s Market with her husband. She was a member of St. Elias Orthodox. Diane enjoyed flower gardening and crafts, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Diane is survived by her children, Chastity Christine Druga of Cincinnati, OH and Lance D. Druga of New Castle; sisters, Patricia Painter of Evans City, PA, Linda Nye of Slippery Rock, PA, Kathleen Hempfling of Harmony, PA, Rose Dean of Siegle, PA, and Mary Lechner of Potsdam, NY; and grandchildren, Alex, Noah, and Brody. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Edward Joseph Kelley. Sara R. Joseph, 90, of New Castle passed away the evening of April 23, 2014 at Select Specialty Hospital of St. Elizabeth’s in Youngstown, OH. Born on February 25, 1924 in Homestead, PA, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Phillips Saad. Surviving Sara at home is her beloved husband of 69 years, Michael M. Joseph, whom she married on October 22, 1944. Sara was the co-owner and operator of Joseph’s Beverage Distributor in Grove City, PA for 29 years. A devout member of St. John the Baptist Maronite Catholic Church with a deep faith, she sang in the choir and belonged to the Ladies Altar and Rosary Society. Also, Sara enjoyed being a member of her Ladies Golf League and Card Club, and she will always be remembered as an excellent cook and baker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed doing everything for her family. In addition to her husband, Sara is survived by her children, Gary M. Joseph and wife Elaine, Marilyn A. Patrick and husband Ronald, Karen A. Ionta and husband Dom, all of New Castle, and Michael D. Rose M. Matteo, 71, of New Castle passed away the morning of April 26, 2014 at her residence. Born in New Castle on September 1, 1942, Rose was the daughter of the late John and Mary Champ Parco. She was a member of St. Vitus Church. Rose retired from the Jameson Outpatient Pharmacy where she had worked as a Pharmacy Technician. In earlier years she had worked as a pharmacy technician for Shaffer and Snyder Pharmacy. Rose enjoyed working with silk flowers making many different flower arrangements. Her life revolved around her family and she cherished the times she spent with them, especially with her grandson, Andrew, her pride and joy. She is survived by her three children, James Matteo and his girlfriend, Linda Irwin of Tampa, FL; Lisa Matteo of New Castle; Chris Matteo and wife Lorrie of New Castle; two brothers, Joe Parco of New Castle; John Parco of FL; her sister, Jean Stewart of New Castle; and her grandson, Andrew Matteo. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Parco and her sister, Shirley Bishop. Esther Naomi Alwardt, 77, of New Castle passed away the evening of April 26, 2014 at Avalon Nursing Home. Born on May 16, 1936 in Springfield, IL, she was the daughter of the late Edith Gaines. Esther worked as a key punch operator in Illinois where she also taught the key punch trade. After moving to Pennsylvania, she became a devout member of Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church and served her Lord as a traveling evangelist. Esther is survived by her children, Dale Alwardt of New Castle, Marilyn Weber and husband Dennis of Myerstown, PA, David Alwardt of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Tina Heslop and husband Robert of New Castle; brother, Paul Gaines of Taylorville, IL; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her sister, Delores Uhrmaker, and infant daughter, Brenda Joyce. Frances A. (Frenchie) Hunt, 77, of Seventh St. passed away the afternoon of April 25, 2014 at Jameson Hospital. Born on November 11, 1936 in New Castle, Frances was the daughter of the late Charles L. and Antoinette Camuso Perrotta. Surviving at home is her husband, Richard W. Hunt, Sr. whom she married on July 17, 1954. She was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Parish. In addition to her husband, Frances is survived by her son, Richard W. Hunt, Jr. of New Castle; two brothers, Charles E. Perrotta and wife Marlene of Charlotte, N.C. and Dennis J. Perrotta and wife Barbara of New Castle. Nancy E. List, 26, of Old Route 422 passed away the evening of April 22, 2014 in Scott Township. Born on May 9, 1987 in New Castle, she is the daughter of William and Nancy Sonntag McAnallen, both of Slippery Rock Township. Also surviving Nancy is her husband, Michael List, whom she married on June 28, 2012. Nancy graduated from Laurel High School in 2005. William Francescone
William Francescone, 83, of New Castle passed away the evening of April 30, 2014 at UPMC Passavant Hospital in Wexford, Pa. Born in New Castle on February 14, 1931, William was the son of the late Alesandro “Alex” and Antoinette Farone Francescone. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of sixty three years, the former Elizabeth Mihok, whom he married on April 7, 1951. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church. William was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He retired from Castle Brand Meats where he worked as a salesman. William loved to keep busy and was still actively working at Castle Builder Supply Company. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and watching sports. William will be remembered as a loving husband and family man, and a kind and caring father and grandfather who adored his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife Elizabeth, William is survived by his three children, Deborah Clements; Cindy Barber and her companion Steve Stelter; William M. Francescone and wife Patti, all of New Castle; his five grandchildren, Jessica Latcheran, Jacqueline Lamorella, Alyssa Francescone, Joshua Barber, Jamie Watkins and five great-grandchildren. Robert Hite
Robert T. Hite, 67, of Union Township passed away the morning of May 3, 2014 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born on September 24, 1946 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Claire and Josephine Miller Hite. Robert retired from his job as a welder. He also previously served his country as a member of the US Marine Corps. His passion was restoring classic automobiles, and he also enjoyed classic cars and motorcycles. Robert was an avid Steelers fan. Robert is survived by his children, Lia Rudiak and Robert Hite; brother, Richard Hite and wife Andrea of New Castle; sisters, Harriette Urich and husband John of Minnetonka, MN and Jo Ellen Barr and husband Tom of Swissvale PA; and five grandchildren. James N. Sibeto, 74, of Poland, Ohio passed away the morning of May 5, 2014 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born in New Castle on January 26, 1940, James was the son of the late Paul, Sr. and Rose Piesto Sibeto. Surviving at home is his loving and devoted wife of forty nine years, the former Judy Argiro, whom he married on August 8, 1964. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was also a member of St. Camillus Church. James was the owner and operator of Jim’s Brushless Car Wash in downtown New Castle for twenty nine years. Prior to that, he had worked as the asphalt plant superintendant for B&L Paving Incorporated. He enjoyed visiting casinos and in his earlier years, playing golf. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished the times he spent with his family, especially while being surrounded by his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him and worked for him at the car wash. In addition to his wife, James is survived by his son, James M. Sibeto and his companion, Angela Johnson of Geneva, NY; his two brothers, Rocky Sibeto of Los Angeles, CA; Marco Sibeto of New Castle; his sister, Nancy Broll of Youngstown, OH; brother-in-law, Rocco Argiro of New Castle; and his three grandchildren, MaryJo Sibeto, Alivia Sibeto and James Sibeto. Lewis A. Pearsall, Jr., 93, of Clubhouse Circle, West Middlesex, Pa., formerly of Meadowview Blvd. in New Castle passed away on May 5, 2014 at his home while under the compassionate care of Celtic Hospice. He was born in New Castle on November 22, 1920. He married Jeanne E. Hartland on October 4, 1941. She passed away in 2006. Lewis was a retiree of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include two sons, Lewis A. Pearsall III of Carlsbad, CA; Richard H. Pearsall of West Middlesex; his brother, Otto H. Pearsall of Cranberry Twp; and three grandchildren. Arrangements are by the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. Joseph Zajac, Jr., 68, of Eastbrook Rd passed away the afternoon of May 2, 2014 at Allegheny General Hospital. Born on January 4, 1946 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Joseph Sr. and Julia Lysick Zajac. Surviving at home is his beloved wife of over 35 years, the former Sandra McAnallen, whom he married on September 17, 1977. Joseph worked as a machinist for Quality Rolls and was a 1965 graduate of Laurel High School. He loved fishing and boating. In addition to his wife, Joseph is survived by his step-daughter, Kimberly Geitner of New Castle; brother, James Zajac and wife Judy of New Castle; sisters, Stella McAnallen and Judy Kerr and husband Bob, all of New Castle; and step-grandson, Dale Glenn. Rose Perrotta
Rose M. Perrotta, 98, formerly of Miami Beach, Florida, passed away the morning of May 8, 2014 at Edison Manor Rehabilitation Center. Born in New Castle on April 4, 1916, Rose was the daughter of the late Anthony and Carmella Scorpion Monico. Preceding her in death on April 21, 1980 is her husband, Clemence Perrotta, Sr. whom she married on April 6, 1937. Rose had worked as a masseuse up until the age of 89 and in earlier years worked at Shenango China. She enjoyed visiting casinos and cherished the times she spent with her family. She is survived by her three children, Vinci Lee Henry, Rosemary Henderson and Clemence Perrotta, Jr., all of New Castle; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Rose is preceded in death by her daughter, Carmella Bulisco; her sisters, Mary LaVecchia, Josephine DeMarco, Jennie DeCristoforo and Sue Vigeletti; two brothers, Carl Monico and Ralph Monico and her great-grandson, Frank Bulisco. Brian J. Rozzi, 55, of New Castle passed away the evening of May 6, 2014 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born on May 11, 1958 in New Castle, he is the son of Marie D. Stella Rozzi of New Castle and the late Dr. James Rozzi, Jr. Surviving Brian at home is his longtime companion, Joan Smith. A 1976 graduate of New Castle High School, Brian earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work/Physical Education from Slippery Rock University. He was the owner and a personal fitness trainer for Dark Horse Fitness of New Castle, and he also was an adoption social worker with Adoptions From The Heart where he helped to place many children in loving homes. Brian was a member of Mary Mother of Hope Parish. He served his country in the US Marine Corps during the evacuation following the Vietnam War where he located Prisoners of War and Missing in Action soldiers. In addition to his mother and companion, Brian is survived by his daughter, Hunter Marie Rozzi at home; brother, Randy Rozzi and wife Mary of Pittsburgh, PA; one niece; and three nephews. Lucille M. Cepro, 82, of New Castle passed away the morning of May 9, 2014 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born on July 11, 1931 in New Castle, she is the daughter of the late Carmen and Dorothy Mitlo Stone. On November 19, 1955, she married her beloved husband, the late Archie Cepro, and the two spent over 50 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death on May 13, 2010. Lucille was a loving and dutiful housewife and a member of St. Vitus Church. She collected angels and porcelain dolls, and she enjoyed cooking and baking. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s activities. Lucille is survived by her children, Randy Cepro and wife Jodi and Joni Hudach and husband Scott, all of New Castle; sisters, Rose Temperato and Ann Miller, both of New Castle; grandchildren, Marissa Blakley, Kiley Cepro, Randi Jo Gettings, Scott Hudach, and Jonalyn Hudach; great-grandchildren, Madison Hudach, Matthew Cepro, Andrew Gettings, Emaleigh Lippman, Brianna Mikulsky, Kaelyn Blakley, Halaena Blakley, Grayson Blakley, and Decklin Blakley. Infant Harlee Lynn DeHass of Portersville, PA passed away on May 6, 2014 at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Farrell, PA. She is the infant daughter of Duane Robert DeHass, Jr. and Ashley Nicole Hall, both of Portersville. In addition to her parents, Harlee is survived by her maternal grandparents, Genale and Robert Hoon and Brian and Renee Hall, all of New Castle; paternal grandparents, Judy DeHass and Duane DeHass, both of New Castle; maternal great-grandparents, George and Gail Netzie and Judy and Steve Fedor, all of New Castle; and paternal great-grandmothers, Rosemary DeHass and Ethel Reno, both of New Castle. Ann M. DiCarlo, 89, of Agnew St. passed away the evening of May 10, 2014 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born on June 10, 1924 in Brent, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Angeline Bucci Rossi. Surviving her at home is her beloved husband of 67 years, Anthony “Tony” DiCarlo, whom she married November 16, 1946. In earlier years, Ann worked at Shenango Pottery and later became a loving housewife. She was a member of St. Vitus Church and also belonged to the Ladies Guild at church. She also belonged to the Ladies of Dukes. She loved ceramics and enjoyed cooking and flower gardening. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, Ann is survived by her children, Judy Temperato and husband Gary of New Castle, Randy DiCarlo, Sr. and wife Debbie of Farrell, PA, and Anthony DiCarlo and wife Linda of New Castle; grandchildren, Gary Temperato, Ryan Temperato, Tiffany Trover, and Randy DiCarlo, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Gianna Temperato, Tristan Temperato, and Kendall Temperato, and Brandon Trover. Donna J. Hess, 86, of 111 Links Dr. passed away the morning of May 13, 2014 at Jameson Hospital. Born in New Castle on June 21, 1927, Donna was the daughter of the late Harold and Blanche Cotton White. Preceding her in death on January 16, 1999 is her husband, George F. Hess whom she married on January 3, 1945. Donna was a member of New Hope Wesleyan Church. She retired from Jameson Hospital where she worked in the cafeteria for seventeen years. She was a member of VFW Post 315 Ladies Auxiliary and the First Baptist Church Sparklers Bible Study Group. In earlier years, Donna enjoyed traveling to Florida with her husband. She cherished the times she spent with her family and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by two children, her son, Gary Hess and his wife Candy; her daughter, Beverly Stoops, both of New Castle; her sister, Lois Kale of New Castle; her son-in-law, Gerald Neely of New Castle; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Madeline C. Rozzi, 74, of S. Liberty St. passed away the afternoon of May 12, 2014 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born in New Castle on June 14, 1939, Madeline was the daughter of the late Antonio and Angeline Russo Rozzi. She was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Parish. Madeline had worked in the meat department for Giant Eagle and Shop N Save grocery stores. Prior to that she had worked for Rockwell International in the cafeteria. Madeline enjoyed playing cards, visiting casinos and gardening. She cherished the times she spent with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. Madeline is survived by her three sisters, Caroline Natale, Mary Park and Angela Rispoli, all of New Castle; and her many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Joan G. Jacobs, 81, of New Castle passed away the evening of May 14, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Hospice House of Wexford, PA. Born on October 23, 1932 in New Castle, she is the daughter of the late Felix and Grace Perrotta Mancino. Surviving her at home is her beloved husband of 56 years, Elias (Paison) Jacobs, whom she married February 1, 1958. Joan retired from her job as a cafeteria worker for New Castle School District. In her earlier years, she worked for JcPenney’s and Grants Department Store. She was a member of St. Elias Orthodox Church. Joan was a fun loving, happy wife, mother, and grandmother who always enjoyed spending time with her family and having them around her. In addition to her husband, Joan is survived by her children, Gloria Jacobs of New Castle, Valerie Disalvio and husband Mike of Columbus, OH, and John Jacobs of New Castle, and grandchild, Maria Grace Disalvio. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Gloria and Marjorie Mancino. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A Trisagion Service will be held Friday at 7:30pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:00am at St. Elias Orthodox Church, officiated by Rev. Fr. Kevin Long. Burial will take place at Parkside Cemetery.
Pauline Biser
Pauline Nancy Biser, 87, of Edinburg, Pa. passed away the morning of May 19, 2014 at the Autumn Grove Nursing Home in Harrisville, Pa. Born in Russellton, Pa. on January 16, 1927, Pauline was the daughter of the late Michael and Sophie Zenis Herman. She married John W. Biser, Jr. and he survives. Pauline was a member of St. James the Apostle Church. She was a veteran of WWII and served as a Navy Nurse for the U.S. Navy. Following her military service, Pauline had worked as a nurse at the St. Francis Hospital of Pittsburgh and St. Francis Hospital in New Castle. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. Pauline also cherished the times she spent with her family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, John W. Biser, III of Edinburg; Ruth Kupiec and her husband Joseph of Pulaski; and her one grandchild, Stephen Kupiec and his wife Becca. She is preceded in death by her parents, a son, Jeffrey Biser, her sisters, Helen Herman, Jenny Holleran, Ann Herman, Sophie Herman and two brothers, Peter Herman and Victor Herman. Visitation is Wednesday from 10AM to 11AM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. A Blessing Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11AM officiated by Rev. Father James Downs of St. James the Apostle Church. Interment will take place at Deer Creek Cemetery in Cheswick, Pa.
