Beverly Goclano Grotefend passed away at home surrounded by family, including her husband and longtime caregiver Robert Grotefend, at 1:00PM on February 24, 2016, after a courageous struggle against the neurological disease MSA. Beverly was 66 years old. Beverly was born on September 13, 1949 in New Castle, Pennsylvania, the first child of Joseph and Viola Goclano. Beverly grew up in New Castle and worked in various roles in the real estate and finance industries. She was a beloved mother to her daughters, Erin Carlin Jackson and Brooke Carlin Napolitano, and a legendarily generous grandmother to her four grandchildren, Piper Judith Jackson, Thomas James Jackson IV, Lucas Joseph Napolitano, and Spencer Philip Napolitano, all of whom have benefited from her infinite kindness and her tireless fun loving nature. Beverly was a wonderful hostess and always had a table ready for guests, invited or expected, and otherwise. Never without a twinkle in her eye or an easy laugh, she had an encyclopedic knowledge of cinema and popular culture. Before her illness, she traveled to Italy with her husband and spent countless hours enjoying vacations with her children and grandchildren. She had a zest for life that her illness could not suppress – even after MSA had begun to take her freedom. Beverly is survived by her husband, Robert Grotefend; both of her parents, Joseph Goclano and Viola Goclano; her brother, Richard Goclano; as well as two daughters, Erin Carlin Jackson and Brooke Carlin Napolitano; and four grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd on Saturday, February 27, from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Services are private. Entombment will take place in Parkside Mausoleum.
