Melaina J. Mills, 48, of New Castle, passed away the evening of February 23, 2016 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born on June 25, 1967 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Linda Gourley Mills of New Castle and the late Thomas E. Mills Jr. Melaina had worked as a certified nursing assistant at Beaver Medical Center. A friendly, caring, and loving person, she will always be remembered for her big heart. Melaina loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren who were the light of her life. In addition to her mother, Melaina is survived by her children, Joseph Nicholson of Longmont, CO, Ciara Latham of New Castle, and Raymond Murray III of New Castle; sisters, Michelle Davis and husband Rick of New Castle, Maria Sommerfield of New Castle, and Melinda Mills and wife Dawn of Colorado Springs, CO; and grandchildren, Annaliese, Adrianna, Ahlaina, Lierre Jr., Darryl III (Baby D), and Kahlia. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. Memorial services will be conducted Monday at 2:00pm at the funeral home, officiated by Reverend Richard Nero, hospice chaplain.
