Former Union Township resident Victoria J. (Dolly) DeMatteis, 83, of Vista South, passed away the afternoon of January 23, 2016 at Avalon Nursing Center. Born on February 3, 1932 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Caroline Conti Pagley. On August 11, 1956, she married her beloved husband, Mario D. DeMatteis, and the two of them spent over 56 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death on September 22, 2012. In her earlier years, Dolly worked at Neisner’s Department Store. She then devoted her life to raising her family. An active member of St. Vitus Church, Dolly was the past president of the Ladies Guild, served as a Eucharistic Minister, and often volunteered for the church, especially for the Church Festival and Food Bank. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and visiting casinos with her sister. Dolly is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Bodi and husband Frank of St. Helena Island, SC; brother, Anthony Pagley and wife Pearl of New Castle; brother-in-law, Anthony Antonelli of New Castle; grandchildren, Sara Gorman and husband Kevin and Kelly Bodi; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Viola (PeeWee) Antonelli. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home Wednesday at 12:00pm to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30pm at St. Vitus Church, officiated by Father William Siple. Interment will take place in Parkside Cemetery.
