Benjamin Carangie

Benjamin Carangie, Sr., 89, of West Pittsburg, passed away October 19, 2014. Born in West Pittsburg on April 12, 1925, Benjamin was the son of the late Nicholas and Mary Banko Carangie. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, the former Mary Ann Attisano, whom he married on September 6, 1947. Benjamin was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII. Benjamin retired from Rockwell International where he worked in the axle plant. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and traveling. Benjamin also enjoyed many sports and, in his earlier days, played baseball. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Benjamin Carangie and his wife Philomena of Pittsburgh, and two grandchildren. Honoring his wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private memorial service was held on Wednesday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. Entombment took place at Parkside Mausoleum.
