Dorothy Lee Gilmore, 86, of New Castle, passed away the evening of October 20, 2014 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born on March 5, 1928 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late George and Gertrude McDowell Turner. On November 21, 1952, she married her beloved husband, Frederick D. Gilmore, and the two spent 37 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death on December 13, 1989. For over 30 years, Dorothy worked as a decorator and glazer for Shenango Pottery. She attended the Prevailing Word World Outreach Center. Dorothy was an avid Pirates and Steelers fan, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Dorothy is survived by her children, Patti J. Harris of New Castle, Frederick D. Gilmore Jr. and wife Lisa of New Castle, and Nina L. Murphy of Texas; brother, Russell Turner of New Castle; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert E. Williams, granddaughter, Bre’Na Marie Harris, and grandson, Frederick Douglas Gilmore III. Visitation will be held Monday from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A homegoing service will be conducted Monday at 1:00pm at the funeral home, officiated by Apostle David Young, Sr. of Prevailing Word World Outreach Center. Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery.
