Thomas A. Rozzi, 91, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of January 12, 2013 in the Overlook Nursing Home, New Wilmington. He was born February 5, 1921 in New Castle and was the son of the late Angelo and Angeline Marie Colonna Rozzi. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary R. Balascio whom he married February 12, 1942. Mr. Rozzi retired after twenty one years from General American Transportation Company, Masury, OH where he worked as an electrician. He was a United States Army veteran serving during World War II. He served as a sergeant with the US Army Corps of Engineers. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Civilian Conservation Corps and a member of St. Vitus Church. Thomas enjoyed camping, fishing and playing pool. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Rosalind Campbell and Jane Stiegler and husband Robert both of Fredericksburg, VA; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina DeCarbo; five brothers, Louis, Joseph, Samuel, Guido and Fred and three sisters, Mary, Assunta and Teresa. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 941 S. Mill Street. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated by Father Nicholas Vaskov on Friday at 10:00 AM at St. Vitus Church. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM for church. Military rites will be conducted by the New Castle Area Honor Guard on Friday at the funeral home at 9:15 AM. Interment will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
