Charles Robert Murphy, 64, passed away the afternoon of January 12, 2013 at his residence in New Castle. Born on December 14, 1948 in New Castle, Charles was the son of John and Edith Clark Murphy. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in New Castle. Surviving at home, is his wife, the former Mui Vong, who he married on May 11, 1971. Charles was a US Army veteran serving with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam Era. Charles had worked for the Graziani Construction Company as an heavy equipment mechanic. He enjoyed playing cards and going to casinos. Charles cherished the times spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his mother and wife, Charles is survived by his two children, Robert Murphy and his wife Melanie; Susan Leshinsky and her husband Michael, both of New Castle; two brothers, Jack Murphy, Tyrone Murphy, six sisters, Mary Beckman, Joanne Vankirk, Sandy Murphy, Betty Hinchcliff, Barb Dando, Carol Householder and his four grandchildren, Shelby, Rhett, Hana and Michael. He is preceded in death by his father, three brothers, George Murphy, Tim Murphy, Pat Murphy and one sister, Shirley Blake. There are no calling hours and services are private. Arrangements are handled by the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St.
