Union township resident, Helen A. Bertolino, 89, formerly of Municipal Dr. passed away the morning of January 13, 2013 at the Avalon Nursing Home. Born on February 1, 1923 in New Castle, Helen was the daughter of the late Dominick and Josephine Bullano Colella. Preceding her in death in 1963 is her husband, Anthony Bertolino, Sr. Helen was a member of St. Vitus Church. She retired from Ralph’s Supermarket. Prior to that, she had worked at Rocky’s Supermarket for over thirty five years. Helen enjoyed making ceramic dolls and was a avid sports fan and enjoyed watching hockey and football games. She loved being surrounded with her family and grandchildren and enjoyed preparing family dinners for them. Helen was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her two children, Anthony Bertolino, Jr. and his wife Susan; John Bertolino, both of New Castle; her brother, Louis Colella of New Castle; and four grandchildren, Allison, Anthony, Jennifer and Christina. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen is preceded in death by her sisters, Lenore Conti, Theresa Gennock and two brothers, Frank Colella and Emilio Colella. Visitation is Tuesday from 5PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. A procession will leave the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 9:30AM for St. Vitus Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM. Rev. Father Nicholas Vaskov of St. Vitus Church will officiate. Burial will take place in St Vitus Cemetery.
