Joan G. Jacobs, 81, of New Castle passed away the evening of May 14, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Hospice House of Wexford, PA. Born on October 23, 1932 in New Castle, she is the daughter of the late Felix and Grace Perrotta Mancino. Surviving her at home is her beloved husband of 56 years, Elias (Paison) Jacobs, whom she married February 1, 1958. Joan retired from her job as a cafeteria worker for New Castle School District. In her earlier years, she worked for JcPenney’s and Grants Department Store. She was a member of St. Elias Orthodox Church. Joan was a fun loving, happy wife, mother, and grandmother who always enjoyed spending time with her family and having them around her. In addition to her husband, Joan is survived by her children, Gloria Jacobs of New Castle, Valerie Disalvio and husband Mike of Columbus, OH, and John Jacobs of New Castle, and grandchild, Maria Grace Disalvio. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Gloria and Marjorie Mancino. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A Trisagion Service will be held Friday at 7:30pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:00am at St. Elias Orthodox Church, officiated by Rev. Fr. Kevin Long. Burial will take place at Parkside Cemetery.
