Ernestine ‘Tina’ Orrico, 86, of Ryan Ave. passed away the morning of February 19, 2014 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born on May 20, 1927 in Farrell, Pa., Ernestine was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth DeMartinis Zappa. Preceding her in death on January 16, 1978 is her husband, Joseph L. Orrico, Jr. Ernestine was a devoted and faithful member of St. Joseph the Worker Church and its Mary Martha Guild. She retired from New Castle Area School District where she worked in the cafeteria. Ernestine was a member of the St. Joseph Widows Club and for fifty years, the Ryan Ave. Card Club. She was a faithful viewer of the Eternal Word Television Network. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished the times she spent with her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lee Tomei and husband Joseph; her three sons, Richard ‘Rocky’ Orrico and wife Geri; David Orrico and wife Gayle and James Orrico and wife Danene, all of New Castle; her sister, Rose Pendel of Farrell, Pa; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Ernestine is preceded in death by her two children, Ronald Orrico, an infant daughter, her brothers, Felix Zappa, Clyde Zappa, Carl Zappa, Leo Zappa, John Zappa and three sisters, Philomena Barretta, Marie Zappa and Leonilda Kahl. Visitation is Friday from 4PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home on Saturday morning at 9:30AM for St. Joseph the Worker Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM. Rev. Father Nicholas Vaskov, Parochial Vicar of St. Joseph the Worker Church will officiate. Interment will take place in St. Vitus Cemetery.
