Kathryn McElroy

Former Pulaski, PA resident Kathryn W. McElroy, 95, of King Ave passed away the afternoon of August 21, 2013 at her residence. She was born on June 8, 1918 in Widnoon, PA to the late Alvie and Bertha McGregor Gray. On June 28, 1940, she married William J. McElroy who preceded her in death.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of New Castle. Kathryn loved being with her grandchildren and attending their various activities. She also enjoyed camping.

Kathryn is survived by her three daughters, Linda Jones of New Castle, Deborah Shoaff and husband Matthew of Pulaski Township, and Kathy Anderson and husband Mark of Clermont, FL; brother, Raymond Gray and wife Allene of Columbus, OH; sister, Frances Clark of Saxonburg; sister-in-law, Agnes Gray of East Brady, PA; seven grandchildren, Brandy Starkey, Kristen Voland, Joshua Shoaff, and Abby, Mark, Robert, and Lisa Anderson; two step-grandchildren, Matt Schoaff and Scott Schoaff and their families; three great-grandchildren, Addy, Brycen, and Cayden Starkey. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Donald Jones; two brothers, William Gray and Lloyd Gray; and four sisters, Mildred Gray, Geneva Musser, Virginia Minich, and Geraldine Rettig.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to the nurses of Jameson Hospice and Brenda for their loving care.

A visitation will be held on Saturday from 12Noon to 3PM at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. Services will be held at 3PM on Saturday at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Larry Llewellyn of Hoover Heights Church. Interment will take place at Castleview Memorial Gardens.

The family requests that donations be made in Kathryn’s honor to Jameson Hospice 1000 South Mercer Street, New Castle, PA 16101.
