Curtis L. Smoot, 66, of New Castle, passed away the morning of August 12, 2013 at Edison Manor. He was born on October 24, 1946 in New Castle to the late Jasper and Violet Micco Smoot. He married the former Nancy J. Deep on May 26, 1989. She survives at home.
After more than 30 years of working as a furnace operator, Curtis retired from Remacor. He also served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. An avid hunter, he was a member of the Shenango Hunting and Fishing Club. He and his wife loved to travel, especially on cruises. He also loved his pets very dearly.
In addition to his wife, Curtis is survived by his daughter, Michelle Bintrim and husband Ty of Waynesburg, PA, and sister, Karen Kassi of Franklin, PA.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11am at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Dennis Bupp.
Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery.
