Louis Conti

Louis M. Conti, 76, of New Castle, formerly of Huey Street, passed away the morning of March 4, 2015 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born on April 3, 1938 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Anna Marie Galazia Conti. Also preceding him in death was his beloved wife, the former Jacqueline D’Ambrosi, whom passed away on May 21, 2000. Louis retired from his job for the Shipping Department of Babcock & Wilcox Company and Ferrotech Corporation. He also served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of St. Vitus Church. An avid sports lover, Louis was a member of the ASA Umpire Association and the All American Umpire Association, and he also served as the President of the 7th Ward Men’s Fall League. He also was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #455. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. Louis is survived by his son, Louis Conti, Jr., and granddaughters, Jacey, Callie, and Abbey Conti. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his brother, Richard Conti. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:30am to 12:30pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. Services will be conducted Saturday at 12:30pm at the funeral home, officiated by Father Frank Almade of St. Vitus Church. Entombment will take place in Parkside Mausoleum.

Fulvia Caimano

Fulvia Caimano, 87, formerly of E. Beechwood Rd. in Bessemer, passed away the afternoon of March 7, 2015 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born in Wampum on November 26, 1927, Fulvia was the daughter of the late John and Domenica D’Andrea Cesarini. She is preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Caimano, who died in 2003 and by her former husband, Bruno Tropea, who died in 1987. Fulvia had worked at Shenango China. She was a devoted member of St. Anthony Church of Christ the King Parish. Fulvia sang in the church’s choir and was a member of the church’s Christian Mother’s. In later years, Fulvia also worked as a housekeeper for St. Anthony Church and St. Lawrence Church. She enjoyed gardening and was also a member of the American Legion. Fulvia was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her three children, Janet Sylvester of New Castle; Dianne Greco and her husband Robert of Cranberry Township; Bruce Tropea and his wife Patty of Bessemer; her sisters, Helen Yuricha of Ellport; Anne Lenhart of New Castle; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, Fulvia is preceded in death by her two sisters, Mary Lou Corsi and Teresa Bartolomeo. Visitation is Tuesday from 4PM to 7PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. A procession will leave the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 9:45AM for St. Anthony Church of Christ the King Parish where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM officiated by Rev. Father James Downs, pastor of St. Anthony Church, Christ the King Parish. Burial will take place in St. Anthony Cemetery.

Judith Pallott

Judith A. Pallott, 75, of Hanna Street, passed away the evening of March 10, 2015 at her residence. Born on July 5, 1939 in Butler, PA, she was the daughter of the late Silvis and Gladys Christy Lucas. Surviving at home is her beloved husband of 50 years, Harry “Butch” Pallott, whom she married on September 19, 1964. In her earlier years, Judith worked for Baron Electric in Butler, PA, and she later worked for the Board of Probation and Parole for Butler, PA. She then worked for the US Department of Agriculture as an ASCS Agency program assistant in New Castle, PA. She was a member of St. Joseph Church. Judith enjoyed bingo and going to the YMCA. In addition to her husband, Judith is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Pallott of Douglassville, PA. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Sherry Duncan, and brother, Edward Lucas. No calling hours are planned, and services are private with burial taking place at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions take the form of donations to the MidAtlantic Bulldog Rescue, P. O. Patricia Peak

Patricia (Falba) Peak, 71, of New Castle, passed away the morning of March 12, 2015 at the Haven Nursing Home. Born on May 8, 1942 in New Castle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Raymond James and Lillian Mae Shoaf Falba. Patricia was a homemaker and cook. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren. Patricia is survived by her children, Duncan Peak and wife Karen, Patrick Peak, Ronald Peak and wife KathyJo, Kimberly Gallaher and husband Butch, Dawn McCrumb and husband Ronald, and Raemee Peak, all of New Castle; 17 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, David Falba, and sister, Sandra Glassel. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 28, at 2:00pm at the Evangel Community Church 451 Wellman Lane, New Castle, officiated by Reverend Robert Stroble. A dinner will follow the service at the church.

Darlene E. Heckart of New Castle passed away the morning of March 13, 2015 at Jameson Hospital. Born in New Castle on November 26, 1945, Darlene was the daughter of the late Robert L., Sr. and Evelyn I. Speer Heckart. She was a member of Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church. Darlene retired from Avalon Nursing Center where she worked in the Human Services Department. She is survived by her sister, Sandra Wheeler of New Castle; three nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, Darlene is preceded in death by her four brothers, Robert Heckart Jr., Paul Heckart, Philip Heckart and David Heckart. Private services were held at the funeral home.

Fred Natale

Fred A. “Speedy” Natale, 93, of Ashberry Lane, passed away the morning of March 13, 2015 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born on July 11, 1921 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Alex P. and Clara Nocera Natale. Surviving at home is his beloved wife of 41 years, the former Rosemarie Coiro, in November 17, 1973. Fred worked as a lathe operator and union steward for Johnson Bronze until its closing in 1981. A lifelong member of St. Vitus Church, he was named Holy Name Man of the Year 1985 and served as an altar server and usher. He also was one of the founders of the St. Vitus Festival and was co-chair for over 17 years. He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. In 1950, Fred joined GNC Credit Union as a director when it was the Johnson Bronze Employees Federal Credit Union and was the president for 60 years. He spearheaded the initiative to change the Johnson Bronze Credit Union to the Community Credit Union on November 10, 1980. Fred was a charter member of Shenango Valley Chapter of the League, which he helped to organize. He also served as chapter director, president, and vice-president and helped organize four credit unions and charter one. Fred loved to spend time with his wife and family. He loved to bowl, follow the New Castle Red Hurricane teams, and attend shows at the Celebrity Series at Westminster College. He loved big band music and dancing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Rita Germani of New Castle, and his nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Alex Natale, Jr. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home Monday at 9:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Vitus Church, officiated by Reverend Frank Almade. Born on May 1, 1960 in Youngstown, OH, she was the daughter of the late Sherman Paul and Sara Scalzo Griswold. Surviving at home is her beloved husband of 33 years, Brian J. Kuttesch, whom she married on June 13, 1981. Barbara was the owner and operator of Emergency Answering Service. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Shenango Township. Barbara loved dogs, especially golden retrievers. In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her son, Justin Michael Kuttesch and fiancée Odessa Jacks of New Castle; brother, Michael Griswold and wife Carmen of Tucson, AZ; and sister, Patricia Patterson and husband Donald of New Castle. Kathleen Ann Hunter, 73, of New Castle, passed away the evening of March 15, 2015 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born on March 2, 1942 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Mary C. Reagan Grannis. On October 19, 1974, she married her beloved husband, Leslie John Hunter, and the two spent over 25 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death on January 24, 2000. Kathleen enjoyed playing the lottery and helping out others who were less fortunate. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends. Kathleen is survived by her children, Shawn D. Grannis and companion Bonnie S. Powell, Toni M. Grannis and companion Ted Nasal, all of New Castle, and Harvey L. Hunter and wife Melissa of Harrisville, PA; brother, Raymond Grannis of New Castle; sister, Laura Campbell of New Castle; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James, Lawrence, William, and Harry Grannis; and sister, Patricia Emes. Peter Rivezzi

Peter A. Rivezzi, 92, of New Castle, passed away the morning of March 17, 2015 at his residence. Born on May 27, 1922 in New Castle, PA, he was the son of the late Michael and Maria Maddalena DeVivo Rivezzi. On April 13, 1950, he married his beloved wife, the former Maria Carmine Russo, and the two spent 54 wonderful years together until she preceded him in death on June 20, 2004. Peter retired from his job as a pipefitter for Youngstown Sheet and Tube/LTV Steel. He had been a member of the Italian Military Police. A devoted member of St. Vincent DePaul Parish, he was active in the church choir and the Holy Name Society. He also belonged to the St. Marguerite Beneficial Society. He loved bowling, woodworking, travelling, and visiting Italy with his wife. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Peter will always be remembered as loving husband, father, and grandfather who was everyone’s repairman and the best handyman ever. Peter is survived by his daughters, Elena Iwanejko and husband Timothy of New Castle, Frances Falcione and husband Vince of Albany, GA, and Jean Barella and husband Robert of New Castle; brother, Giovanni Rivezzi of New Jersey; sisters, Antonietta Caputo of Flemington, NJ and Carmelina Migliucci of Frosinone, Italy; grandchildren, Jessica Hickman, Marissa Federici, Erica Falcione-Curi, and R.J. Barella; and great-grandchildren, Layne, Carson, Lillian, Anthony Michael, and Carmelina. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his brother, Geraldo Rivezzi. James Earl Fowler, 79, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family members. Born February 27, 1936 in New Castle, PA, he was the son of the late Harry S. “Buzz” Fowler and Zelda Powell Fowler. He graduated from New Castle High School in 1954 and General Motors Institute in Flint, MI in 1956. He was the owner and operator of Fowler’s Taxi and Limousine Service and later employed by Cox Overhead Garage Doors. Jim was a member of the Taxi Cab Association, Laurel Lions, Hickory Township Volunteer Fire Department, Lodge of the Craft, New Castle Consistory, and a Rainbow “Dad”. He was an avid car and motorcycle enthusiast. He enjoyed many trips in his recreational vehicle and woodcrafting. He enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and his grandchildren’s sports and dance activities. He was devoted to his family and very proud of his children and grandchildren’s achievements. He attended Calvary Independence Church as a youth and later Third Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his spouse and high school sweetheart of 57 years, Marcelyn (Marcie) Evans Fowler; daughter, Allyson Fowler Waskin and her husband Kevin of New Castle; son, Timothy Evans Fowler and his wife, Lori, of Mercer, PA; his grandchildren, Chandler and Hunter Waskin, Cody, Trenton, and Trevor Fowler; and family pet, Sassz. Visitation will be held Sunday 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home 3000 Wilmington Rd. Harry Grannis, 76, of New Castle, entered into eternal life the evening of March 10, 2015 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born on October 24, 1938 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Oscar and Mary C. Reagan Grannis. Harry retired from his job as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He also served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force and for the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a member of the Protestant faith. Harry belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #315. He loved to bowl, fish, play softball, cards, and horseshoes. He was an avid New Castle sports and Steelers fan. Harry is survived by his children, Robert Grannis of Allison Park, PA, Richard Grannis of Glen Burnie, MD, Deborah Bridgett of Waldorf, MD, Tracy Helmondollar of Lexington Park, MD, and Melinda Bingham and husband Joseph of Lexington Park, MD; brother, Raymond Grannis of New Castle; sisters, Kathleen Hunter and Laura Campbell, both of New Castle; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Born on May 16, 1918 in Los Angeles, CA, she was the daughter of the late David and Dana Lydick Satterfield. She also was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leroy Eckhardt, whom passed away in 1976. Helen loved to take care of her home, especially cleaning, cooking, and doing the yard work. She will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Helen is survived by her son, George Eckhardt of New Castle, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Born in New Castle on May 20, 1925, Sam was the son of the late Sam, Sr. and Rose Wischermann Staph. He is preceded in death by his wife, the former Gertrude Wilson. Sam was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his country during WWII. He was the owner and operator of Staph’s Garage where also worked as a mechanic. Sam enjoyed hunting. He is survived by his companion, Martha Garanski; his daughter, Rose Watros of Traverse City, Michigan; one brother, Francis Staph of Grove City, Pa; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Jean Marie (Zear) Fenati, 91, died peacefully with her children by her side at the Haven at North Hills Assisted Living Center in Pittsburgh, PA the afternoon of March 21, 2015. She was born on June 24, 1923 in New Castle to the late Alfredo and Maria Graziani. She was married to George Fenati on May 3, 1947. He passed away on February 21, 2002 after 54 years of marriage. She graduated from New Castle Senior High School in 1941. She was a member of St. Vitus Church. Jean began working at age 13 in her parent’s grocery store located on Butler Avenue as a clerk. She later became the bookkeeper for her father and brothers when they entered other fields of business in construction. She retired as office manager in 2002 from the family business after more than 60 years. Jean loved to play cards, especially enjoying Friday and Saturday night card games. She also enjoyed baking, travelling, and crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader. Jean always looked forward to visits from her children and grandchildren. As the matriarch of the family, she is survived by her loving children, Patricia Philips and husband Larry of Adams Township in Butler County, PA, Marilyn Fenati of Pittsburgh, PA, and George Fenati, Jr. and wife Kamilla of Denver, CO. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Lara Philips Conboy and husband Sean of London, England, Jeff Philips of Columbia, SC, Michelle Fenati of Houston, TX, Kristen Fenati of Ft. Worth, TX, and Lindsey Bienvenu and husband Nathan of Austin, TX; great-grandsons, Malachy and Oran Conboy of London, England; first cousins, Sylvia Troggio of Arizona and Ornella Budellazze of New Castle; many nieces and nephews; and relatives in Italy with whom she kept in touch. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and five brothers, Yates, Arthur, Fred, William, and Larry Graziani. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home 941 S Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home Wednesday at 10:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at St. Vitus Church. Jane E. Morgan, 93, formerly of North Point Drive, died the morning of Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. She was born December 15, 1921 in New Castle, PA and was the daughter of the late John and Carlotta Sylvester Christofer who preceded her in death. Jane married Walter R. Morgan on April 18, 1942; they were married 66 years at the time he preceded her in death. Prior to marriage, Jane worked at Keystone Lawrence. Jane’s life work was dedicated to being a homemaker and her devotion was to her home, family, and friends. She was a member of St. Camillus Church. Jane is survived by one daughter, Kathie Morgan of Surprise, AZ; one son, Ronald Morgan and wife Carla of Fombell, PA; four grandchildren, Christopher Crates and wife Cherrell, Janie Gibson and husband Mike, Megan Ammons and husband Ben, and Gretchen Skigis and husband Harry. Jane is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Monica, Karina, Nathan, Scarlett, and Rosalie. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Christofer and Dominic Christofer, and one sister, Nellie Glassi. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Jane recently lost her beloved niece, Irene Marburger, who is survived by her daughter, RaeLyn Marburger. Visitation will be Thursday, March 26, 2015 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory at 3000 Wilmington Rd. Dolores “Jean” Donofrio, 81, of Bartram Ave. passed away the morning of March 26, 2015 at her residence. Born on August 12, 1933 in New Castle, Jean was the daughter of the late Weimer and Martha Eckert Bair. Preceding her in death in 1987 is her husband, James “Tony” Donofrio. Jean was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, baking and cooking. She cherished the times she spent surrounded by her children, grandchildren and her entire family. She is survived by her six children, Lou Ann Donofrio; Mary Donofrio; Tonie Smith, all of New Castle; Robin Kungle of Alliance, OH; James Donofrio and his wife Melinda and Joseph Donofrio and his wife Barb, both of New Castle; her brother, Weimer Bair, Jr. of New Castle; two sisters, Betty Higgins, Mildred “Sis” Gagliardo, both of New Castle; sixteen grandchildren and twenty four great-grandchildren. Nicholas Acquillo

Nicholas C. Acquillo, 88, of Jameson Place, passed away the evening of March 26, 2015 at Jameson Care Center. Born on July 31, 1926 in Mercer County, PA, he was the son of the late Carmine and Concetta Marino Acquillo. On September 11, 1948, he married his beloved wife, the former Erna B. Kormann, and the two spent over 47 wonderful years together until she preceded him in death on May 17, 1996. In his earlier years, Nicholas worked as a salesman for Waldman’s Meats. He then was a supervisor for various Isaly’s Stores in the area. Nicholas later retired as an owner of Isaly’s Store in Westgate Plaza. He also served as a member of the US Army in Europe during World War II. Nicholas enjoyed travelling, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Nicholas is survived by his daughters, Gloria Acquillo of Sewickley, PA and Claudia Palisin and husband Jonathan of Hermitage, PA; one brother; one sister; and grandchildren, Michael and Kelsey. Nicholas is also survived by his fiancée, Bernice Hilke, and her four daughters. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his sister, Ann Burrelli, and grandson, Eric. Private services were held Friday at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd, officiated Father Michael Peck, pastor of St. Camillus Church. Interment is in Castleview Memorial Gardens. Pauline S. Roth, 93, of New Castle, passed away the morning of March 24, 2015 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born on February 5, 1922 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Pribulsky Zduriencik. In 1940, she married her beloved husband, Edward Roth, and the two spent 45 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death in 1985. Pauline worked as a decorator for Shenango China for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church. Pauline’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Pauline is survived by her daughter, Barbara A. Pisciuneri of New Castle; grandchildren, Alicia Micco and husband Jeff and James Pisciuneri and wife Brandy; and great-grandchildren, Dante, Rocco, and McKenna. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Pandos and Ann Warso; and brothers, John, Joseph, and Stephen Zduriencik. No calling hours are planned. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Monday at 10:00am at St. Joseph the Worker Church, officiated by Father Frank Almade. Interment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Frank A. “HAM” Thomas, 91, formerly of Summit Street, passed away the morning of March 29, 2015 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born on February 9, 1924 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Columbus and Philomena Circelli Thomas. On June 27, 1953, he married his beloved wife, the former Anna G. Conti, and the two spent over 37 years together until she preceded him in death on October 11, 1990. After 44 years, Frank retired from the warehouse and shipping department for Shenango China. He was a 1942 graduate of New Castle High School. He also served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Shenango China Federal Credit Union for more than 65 years and served as a former president for over 30 years. Frank attended many Lawrence and Mercer Counties Chapter functions and state conventions. He was also involved with the financial section of United Steelworkers of America Local 3125. Actively involved in pensions, worker safety, and labor/management relations, Frank attended six international conventions and many District 20 and state conferences. He was also a member of the Duca Degli Abruzzi Society for over 60 years. He also served as an officer of the Croton Dukes Club for many years and was very proud to help rebuild the club after the Thanksgiving Day fire in 1991. A devout member of St. Vitus Church, Frank served as an officer of the Holy Name Society for several years and was named Holy Name Father of the Year in 1991. He also served on the board for fundraising and union involvement for many local branches of charities, such as the YMCA and United Way. Also an active golfer, Frank attended in several US Opens at Oakmont. He also attended the US Open in Bethpage, NY in 2002 and several Senior Opens in Laurel Valley, Quicksilver, and Jericho, NY. Known for his knowledge, integrity, and honesty, Frank “handled the money” for many organizations, golf leagues, and fundraisers. An active follower of the New Castle Red Hurricanes, he unfortunately could not appreciate their most recent success as the 2014 state champions. Frank is survived by his son, Daniel Thomas and wife Leanne of New Castle; step-grandchildren, Cody Kirkwood and Cassandra Moore; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Victor M. Thomas and Harry Thomas, and sisters, Violet M. Kuczka and Mary A. Thomas. He is also preceded in death by his two close friends who were also active in credit unions, Joseph Ross and Fred Natale. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home Wednesday at 9:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Vitus Church. Interment will take place in St. Vitus Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites at the cemetery.
