Edna Squeglia

Edna Theresa Squeglia, 86, of Union Township passed away the afternoon of December 13, 2014 peacefully with her family at her side. Born on October 16, 1928 in New Castle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Mae Robinson Buckley. On May 26, 1951, she married her beloved husband, Nicholas C. Squeglia, and the two spent over 51 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death on January 27, 2003. Edna retired from her job as a Registered Nurse for St. Francis Hospital. She also had previously worked for Haven Nursing Home and Overlook Nursing Home. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church of Mary Mother of Hope Parish and belonged to the Ladies Guild of Mary Mother of Hope Parish. Edna will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Edna is survived by her children, Nicholas L. Squeglia and wife Judi of Glenshaw, PA, Marilyn Gates and husband Bart of Mary Esther, FL, Barbara Hogue and husband Brian of Mercer, PA, Mary Squeglia of Evans City, PA, and Dennis D. Squeglia and wife DeAn of Venetia, PA; and eight grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Edward Squeglia; brothers, Anthony Buckley, Benjamin Buckley, and Joseph Buckley; and sisters, Rose Jones, Mary Margaret Dewhirst, and Ann Murphy. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. A procession will leave the funeral home Wednesday at 10:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church at 11:00am, officiated by Father Michael Ackerman. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Tracy Gardner

Tracy T. Gardner, 63, of New Castle passed away the evening of December 8, 2014 of natural causes at his residence. Born on January 4, 1951 in New Castle, he was the son of Ruth Thorpe Gardner Whitlach of Texas and the late James Gardner. Surviving him at home is his beloved wife of 43 years, the former Ellen Dennis, whom he married on April 21, 1971. Tracy was the owner and operator of C. R. Gardner Sons Heating and Cooling. He was a member of Croton Methodist Church. Tracy also was an avid hunter. In addition to his wife, Tracy is survived by his son, Cory James Gardner and wife Susan of Ft. Mill, SC, brother, Leslie Gardner and wife Mary Ellen of Crosby, TX, and grandchildren, Sophia Grace and Emily Faith. Honoring his wishes, there are no calling hours or services planned. Myrna R. Hoyland, 81, of Neshannock Township passed away the morning of December 15, 2014 at Jameson Care Center. Born on November 7, 1933 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Clara Blews Loy. In 1952, she married her beloved husband, David D. Hoyland, Sr., and the two spent over 60 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death on November 21, 2014. Myrna was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church. She previously had worked with Meals on Wheels. Myrna is survived by her children, David Hoyland Jr. and Debra Burig, both of New Castle; sister, Shirley Wimer of New Castle; grandchildren, Chris Burig and Jen Burig; and her great-grandchild, Aidan. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Pat Clark and Frannie Lucas. There are no calling hours, and services will be private.

Domenic Viccari

Domenic Viccari, 74, of Old State Road, New Castle passed away the morning of December 14, 2014 in Jameson Hospital. He was born November 15, 1940 in Ellwood City and was the son of the late Philip and Connie DiCola Viccari. He is survived by his loving wife, the former Alice Dufford, whom he married on December 25, 1986. Mr. Viccari was a self employed sign painter and was a United States Army veteran. He was an antique car and truck enthusiast and enjoyed coin collecting. Domenic was a member of the Roman Catholic faith. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Gina Krebs of New Castle; a brother, Philip Viccari and wife Lynn of West Pittsburg; two sisters, Mary Jane Zelic of Portersville and Shirley Young of Colorado and two grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son. There will be no calling hours and services will be private.

Theresa Suzow, 96, passed away the evening of December 14, 2014 at the Haven Convalescent Home. Born on October 21, 1918 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Louisa DePasquale Caparoula. On December 27, 1947, she married her beloved husband, William Suzow, and the two spent over 48 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death on February 6, 1996. After 42 years of working, Theresa retired from her job as a handle finisher for Shenango China. She was a member of St. Vitus Church and belonged to the Shenango Retirees. The happiest times of Theresa’s life were the times she spent with her family, especially the time spent with her brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. Theresa is survived by her brothers, James Caparoula and wife Charlotte and Robert Caparoula and wife Barbara, both of New Castle; sisters, Sylvia Peabody, Mary Scully, Adeline Scully, Nora Robinson and husband Ralph, and Gilda Jackson and husband Charles, all of New Castle; sisters-in-law, Judith Caparoula of New Castle and Linda Caparoula of Girard, OH; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers, John and Richard Caparoula; sisters, Phyllis Yeropoli and Julia Schofield; and brothers-in law, Anthony Yeropoli, John Peabody, Eli Schofield, William Scully, and Robert Scully. He is preceded in death by his wife, the former Terri L. Yakubik. Leslie had been working as a butcher for meat packing companies. He enjoyed art and loved different types of music. He is survived by his children, Rachel Knable and her husband Anthony of Medina, OH; Leslie R. Ranson, Jr., Cole L. Antoinetta M. Forletta, 90, of S. Jefferson St. passed away the morning of December 20, 2014 at Jameson Hospital. Born in New Castle on June 5, 1924, Antoinetta was the daughter of the late Antonio and Adeline Musso Forletta. She was a member of St. Vitus Church. Antoinetta was a homemaker who loved cooking and baking and was famous for all the delicious meals and baked goods she prepared. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished all the times she spent with her family. Antoinetta is survived by her son, Larry Forletta and his wife Nancy of New Castle, and her two grandchildren, Cassandra and Anthony. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, Albert Forletta and her two sisters, Amelia Fedor and Angeline Cowan. Visitation is Monday evening from 5:00PM to 8:00PM and Tuesday morning from 10:30AM to 11:30AM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Born in New Castle on October 25, 1933, Mary was the daughter of the late Dominick and Josephine Saviano Martucci. Surviving at home is her loving and devoted husband, Angelo “Yogi” Flora, whom she married on September 29, 1959. Mary was a member of St. Vitus Church. Mary had worked at Danish Pastry and May’s Donuts where she enjoyed socializing with the customers. She enjoyed cooking, baking, visiting casinos and watching sports. Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished the times she spent with her friends and family. In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her two children, John Flora and Joan Flora Abraham, both of New Castle; her brother, Anthony Martucci and his wife Suzanne of Struthers, OH; her sisters, Jo Marie (Dolly) Cooper of Palm City, FL; Patti Haney and her husband Ed of New Castle; her granddaughter, Angie Abraham and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Diane Mangino and Delores Pastore. Visitation is Tuesday from 4PM to 7PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Born on August 26, 1955 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late George Jr and Wanda Kielar Mutcko. Surviving her at home is her beloved husband of 26 years, Carl Llewellyn, whom she married on December 19, 1988. In her earlier years, Karen worked as an office assistant for Liberty Mutual. She was a member of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed walking and exercising. Karen will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy came from spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, Karen is survived by her children, Shane Lanigan and wife Nicole, Troy Llewellyn, Kyle Llewellyn, Carl Llewellyn II, and Christina Llewellyn, all of New Castle; brother, Gary Mutcko of New Castle; and five grandchildren. Born in New Castle on December 1, 1934, Josephine was the daughter of the late Valentino and Annunziata Lanzillo Orlando. Also preceding her in death on August 6, 2014 is her husband, Ralph D. Delio, whom she married on February 27, 1954. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Josephine enjoyed traveling and dancing. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will also be remembered as a great hostess when she was cooking for all her friends and family. She is survived by her children, Joni and her husband, Dr. James Snow, III of New Castle; Ralph J. Delio and his wife Carol, of New Castle; Marc S. Delio of New Wilmington and his fiancé, Jennifer Larson; her brother, Pat Orlando of New Castle; four sisters, Nancy Rich and her husband Don of New Castle; Julia Conti of Hubbard, OH; Barbara Scheidemantle and her husband Tom of New Castle; Linda and her husband, Dr. Richard Micco of New Wilmington; five grandchildren, Jamie and her husband, Dr. Donald Murry, III; Michael Snow and his wife Lyudmila; Ralph Delio, Jr.; Stephanie Delio; Marc S. Carl J. (Cy) Congini, 91, of Neshannock Township, passed away the afternoon of December 20, 2014 at the Haven Nursing Home. Born in New Castle on December 5, 1923, Carl was the son of the late Antonio and Santa Casillo Cangiano. Preceding him in death on April 29, 2005 is his wife, the former Sylvia Sherman, whom he married on September 26, 1956. He was a member of St. Vitus Church. Carl was a veteran of U.S. Navy serving during WWII. Carl was a graduate of Youngstown College. He was the owner and operator of Snow White Dry Cleaners on the south side of New Castle and was also the owner of Cy’s Auto sales on the eastside of New Castle. Carl was a race horse enthusiast and owned race horses. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who devoted his life to the caring of his son, Mark. He is survived by his children, Kim Stassinopoulos and husband Nick of Miami, FL, John Congini and his wife Kathy of Columbus, OH, Mark Congini of Miami; his sister, Sue Peluso of Rome, NY; three grandchildren, David Congini, Kylie Pearson, and Nikos Stassinopoulos; and one great-grandchild, Nolan Pearson. In addition to his parents and wife, Carl is preceded in death by his three sisters, Mary Ryan, Teresa Dinucci, and Antoinette Exposito and his two brothers, John Cangiano and Vincent (Jim) Cangiano. Fedora Gigli Buly, 91, passed away the evening of Dec 25, 2014. She was born on Oct 30, 1923 in Serre di Rapolano (Siena), Tuscany, Italy to the late Valentina Amidei Gigli and Amleto Gigli. She was a war bride from World War II. After having survived the deprivations of Nazi occupation during World War II, she met Sgt. Mike Buly, US Army, during a dance celebrating the liberation of Tuscany during the summer of 1944. They were married on November 29, 1945 and then began a new life in America, leaving her entire family behind in Italy. She became a US citizen in 1949. In her earlier years, Fedora loved to cook. She was a member of St. Camillus Church. She is survived by her 5 sons and 4 daughters-in-law, Michael and Sharon Buly, Daniel Buly, all of New Castle, Robert and Lynne Buly of Larchmont, NY, Larry and Karen Buly of Pottstown, PA and Albert and Beth Buly of Wayne, PA. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Erica Sickafuse, Korie Enscoe, Alex Buly, Jocelyn Buly, Christopher Buly, Benjamin Buly, Jacob Buly, Brian Marosek, Audra Grosso, Ashley Yanchek, and Brittney Yanchek; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Valentina Amidei Gigli in 1935 and Amleto Gigli in 1979; sister, Manon Gigli Boscagli, in 1981; and husband, Michael Buly, in 2001. Charles C. Peak, 67, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of December 28, 2014 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born on August 5, 1947 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Harry and Lucy Russo Peak. Surviving him at home is his beloved wife of 46 years, the former Gloria Fulena, whom he married on December 14, 1968. On June 23, 2007, Charles retired from his job as a school auditor for the Pennsylvania Department of the Auditor General. He was a member of St. Vitus Church. Charles enjoyed gardening and sports, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandson. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Shelley Genco and husband Jim of Pittsburgh, PA and Krista Peak of New Castle; brothers, Sam Peak, Ralph Peak and wife Carol, and Walter Peak and wife Carol, all of New Castle; sisters, Harriett Bulisco of Virginia Beach, VA and Jane Carter of Ft. Mill, SC; sister-in-law, Carol Ginocchi of New Castle; and grandson, Jimmy Genco. Born on June 22, 1938 in Enon Valley, PA, she was the daughter of the late Wayne and Mary Margaret Paes Hutchison. Surviving her at home is her beloved husband of 59 years, Pete Magliocca, whom she married on October 27, 1955. Mary retired from her job as an inspector for Universal Rundle. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved feeding birds, gardening, and flowers. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her children, Linda Magliocca and partner Edie Kennedy of The Villages, FL, John Magliocca and wife Crystal, David Magliocca and wife Donna, Lonny Magliocca and wife Millie, Barbara Fleeger and husband Edward, Susan Antonelli and husband Albert, and Jim Magliocca and wife Arlene, all of New Castle; brother, Kenneth Hutchison of New Castle; sister, Barbara Shuler of Beaver Falls, PA; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Josephine M. DeMarc, 71, of New Castle passed away the evening of December 27, 2014 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born on April 27, 1943 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Ponziani and Mary DeMarco-Coci-Ango. She is survived by her former husband, Charles DeMarc of West Pittsburg. Josephine previously worked for DeMarc’s Auto Salvage in West Pittsburg and as a sorter for the City Rescue Mission. She also worked as a Home Health Aide for Jameson Memorial Hospital and as a secretary for the Jameson Outreach Program. Also in her earlier years, Josephine owned and operated Little Joe’s Pizza Shop. She was a member of St. Vitus Church. Josephine loved country music, fishing, and camping and was an avid Steelers fan. A kind hearted woman, she was known for helping people and was an animal lover. In addition to her former husband, Josephine is survived by her sisters, Connie Coci-Todd and husband Dave of New Castle, Rose Marie Mitchell of New Castle, Teresa Krasinski and husband Joe of Poland, OH, and Mary Lou Ango of New Castle, and many aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, William S. Ango, Jr.; stepfathers, Nick Coci and William S. Ango, Sr.; brother-in-law, Larry Mitchell; and dog, JPS. Ernest Grauso, Sr., 86, of North Beaver Township, passed away the afternoon of December 31, 2014 at his residence. Born on July 3, 1928 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Samuel and Philomena Tucciarone Grauso. Surviving him at home is his beloved wife, the former Norma (Joan) Donaldson, whom he married in December 1952. Always known as a hard worker, Ernest founded the Mahoning Builders Inc. in 1969 and retired as the owner in 2004. He also served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Catholic faith. Ernest always will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his wife, Ernest is survived by his children, Ernest Grauso Jr. and wife Tutu of New Castle, Joni Smith and husband Joseph of Canfield, OH, and Dennis Grauso and wife Lisa of New Castle; sisters, Martha Martello and Rose DeCaria, both of New Castle; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. George R. (Robbie) Foy, 50, of N. Liberty St. passed away the afternoon of December 27, 2014 at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born in New Castle on February 26, 1964, Robbie was the son of Lawrence, Sr. and Margaret Hollabaugh Avery. His father survives and his mother preceded him in death. Robbie was a member of the Church of Genesis. He enjoyed playing bingo, bowling and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirate fan. Most of all, he enjoyed the times he spent with his family. In addition to his father, Robbie is survived by his brother, Lawrence Avery, Jr., his sisters, Tonya Brest and Cheryl Book, all of New Castle; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and two uncles. The family will receive friends from 2PM to 3PM Wednesday at the Church of Genesis 303 N. Cedar St. New Castle, Pa. Services will begin at 3PM at the church, officiated by Rev. Ronald Eade.

Louis Gilmore

Louis G. Gilmore, 85, of New Castle passed away the morning of January 1, 2015 at his residence. Born on April 9, 1929 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Louis G. Sr. and Margaret Plummer Gilmore. He was also preceded in death by his wife, the former Donna L. Owens, in 1973. Louis retired from his job as a foreman for Rockwell International in New Castle. Louis was a member of Prevailing Word World Outreach Center. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. Louis is survived by his children, Sherri L. Murphy of Marietta, GA, Rolanna L. Calhoun and husband Ralph of New Castle, and Margaret “Peggy” Gilmore of North Carolina; four grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Chaunise Calhoun, and brother, Roland Gilmore. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Prevailing Word World Outreach Center 114 Oakland Avenue, New Castle. Services will be conducted Wednesday at 12:00pm at the church, officiated by Apostle David Young. Interment will take place in Parkside Cemetery.
