Eileen H. Meehan, 84 of New Castle, PA and Naples, FL passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014 surrounded by her four loving children. Eileen was born on March 27, 1929 in New Castle, PA. She was the daughter of Marin L. and Alice McCormick Haney. Her father preceded her in death on July 29, 1989 and her mother on February 14, 2004. She married John A. Meehan, Jr. on June 25, 1955. He preceded her in death on June 18, 1984. Eileen was the proprietor of the Eileen Meehan Beautique, dress and beauty salon, for over 40 years. She and her husband John also owned and operated the Meehan Funeral Home in New Castle. She continued to operate the funeral home for 21 years after his death. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Mary Mother of Hope Parish in New Castle, PA and St. William Parish in Naples, FL She was actively involved in the community serving on numerous fund raising efforts for local charities and endowments. She was committed to the preservation of the historical district of New Castle with great efforts to maintain the Meehan Family homestead on Lincoln Avenue. She was a member of the New Castle County Club and enjoyed her dual residence in Naples, FL for the past 35 years. Throughout her life, she was always accompanied by her Maltese dogs whom all had a special place in her heart, most recently her beloved Moira. She is survived by her children, John A. Meehan III of Reston, VA, James T. Meehan of Naples, FL and New Castle, Terence P. Meehan of New Castle, and Patricia E. (Dennis) Mehegan of Oak Hill, VA and her adoring grandchildren, Mary Kate, Meredith and Jack Mehegan. She is also survived by her brothers, Joseph M. Haney of Pulaski, Edward L. (Patricia) Haney, and Kenneth P. (Bobbie) Haney, all of New Castle; sisters in-law, Anne Lynch Meehan of Naples, FL, Anne M. Talarico of Rochester, NY and Bonita Springs FL, and Judith M. (Robert) Standish of Flat Rock, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Kathaleen Proch and Marjorie Jenkins; mother and father-in-law, Dr. John and Elizabeth McKeever Meehan, and brother-in-law, Paul C. Meehan. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 2-8 pm at the Edward A. and Donald G. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 3000 Wilmington Road New Castle PA. A procession will leave the funeral home Saturday at 10:30am for Mass of Christian burial which will be celebrated at 11 am at St. Mary’s Church of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish. Thomas R. Nelson, 56, of State Rt. 18, Wampum, Pa., went to be with the Lord on January 29, 2014. Born on May 28, 1957 in New Castle, Thomas is the son of Raymond E. and Donna J. Hartzell Nelson. Both parents survive and reside in Wampum, Pa. Thomas graduated from Mohawk High School in 1975 and continued his education at West Virginia University earning a degree in Landscape Architecture. After graduating in 1980 from WVU, Thomas moved to Leesburg, VA where he had a successful landscaping business for thirty three years. He returned to Wampum in 2012 and began working for SSD as a delivery driver. He was a member of Victory Family Church in Cranberry. Thomas loved to read his bible daily, enjoyed jogging and spending time on his computer. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Jacqueline Todd and her husband John of Piedmont, SC; his niece, Andrea Anthony and husband Ben and his great-niece, Adisson Anthony. Preceding him in death are his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Jean Hartzell and paternal grandparents, John and Martha Nelson. Visitation is Friday from 5PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. A service will be held on Saturday at 12:30PM at the funeral home officiated by Rev. Thomas Fontana, Sr.
Thomas A. Fontana, Sr, 74, of New Castle passed away the evening of January 29, 2014 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born in New Castle on December 1, 1939, he is the son of the late Domenic and Margaret Nero Fontana. On January 27, 1962, he married his beloved wife, the former Bonnie Lou Davis, and the two spent many happy years together until she preceded him in death on February 8, 2001. Thomas retired from his job as a caster for Shenango Pottery. He was a member of St. Vitus Church and its Holy Name Society. He also belonged to the Fratenal Order of Eagles, Unione Calabro Americana Society, and Sons of Italy. In 2002, he founded and became president of the Home Street Reunion which continues today. Thomas enjoyed spending time in Gaston Park and watching sporting events. In his earlier years, he coached the 5th Ward Yankees. He also enjoyed visiting casinos. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially with his children and grandchildren. Thomas is survived by his children, Tracy Coiro and husband George Hall, Melinda Grant and husband Gregory, and Thomas A. Fontana, Jr., all of New Castle; brother, Charles Fontana of New Castle; sisters, Joann Cain and husband David, Angela Compeli and husband James, and Janis Ferrazzano and husband Angelo, all of New Castle; and grandchildren, Nicholas Coiro and fiancee Dawn Carson, Alina Grant, Christopher Grant, and Karissa Hall. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Doris Fontana. Robert McQuiston
Robert McQuiston, 62, of Erie St. Edinburg, Pa. passed away January 29, 2014 at Jameson Hospital. Born on July 23, 1951 in Youngstown, OH, Robert was the son of the late Robert L. and Verna McQuiston. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces. In earlier years he had worked as a welder. He enjoyed traveling and was a motorcycle enthusiast. Survivors include his children, Jessica McQuiston of Edinburg; Ralph McQuiston of South Carolina; his sister, Elaine Lamoree and husband Thomas of New Castle and four grandchildren. Harry Jannetti
Former Union Township resident Harry V. Jannetti, 49, of Niles, OH, passed away the afternoon of January 31, 2014 at University Hospital of Cleveland. Born in New Castle on August 19, 1964, he is the son of Harry D. and Joan M. DeMatteis Jannetti, both of New Castle. Always known as a hard worker, Harry was the owner of J & B Bi-Rite Supermarket in Warren, OH. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Warren, OH. Harry was a 1982 graduate of Union High School. Harry enjoyed visiting casinos and golfing, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends, especially his nieces, nephews, and his cat, Alexander. In addition to his parents, Harry is survived by his sisters, Susan Sallmen and husband Tim of New Castle, Lynne Ransom and husband Lee of Wampum, PA, and Karen Stewart and husband Richard of New Castle; nephews, Lucas, Jordan, R.J., Tim, and Ryan; and nieces, Nicole, Alexa, and Marina. Harry is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Antonia and Vincent DeMatteis, and paternal grandparents, Dominick and Devina Jannetti. Florence Garczewski
Florence C. Garczewski, 92, of Randolph St. passed away the evening of February 3, 2014 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. She was born in New Castle on March 14, 1921, a daughter of the late Edward and Elvira Mascio Bucci. Preceding her in death on November 25, 2001, is her husband, Adam A. Garczewski, Sr., whom she married on February 24, 1946. She was a member of St. Vitus Church. Florence retired from Kmart where she had worked as a clerk. Prior to that she had worked as a cook for Golden Hill Nursing Home and St. Francis Hospital. In earlier years she had worked for Shenango China. She enjoyed bingo, cooking and was a member of the Silver Threads. Florence was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and cherished the times she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her four children, Adam Garczewski, Jr. and wife Joann of New Castle; Robert Garczewski and wife Pam of Shirley, Indiana; Eugene Garczewski and wife Susan of New Castle; Donald Garczewski of New Castle; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Florence is preceded in death by four brothers, Samuel Bucci, Armando Bucci, Rudolph Bucci, Thomas Bucci and her infant sister, Helen Bucci. Tony Tonsetic
Tony J. Tonsetic, 94, of 8th St., West Pittsburg, passed away the morning of February 3, 2014 at Edison Manor Nursing Home. Born in West Pittsburg on October 16, 1919, Tony was the son of the late Steve and Barbara Pavlich Tonsetic. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, the former Ann Carapellotti, whom he married on December 2, 1950. Tony was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Parish. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Tony retired from Babcock and Wilcox Tubular Products where he worked as a steel worker. He was a member of the ITAM, American Legion Post 343 and the Croatian Fraternal Union. Tony was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing baseball in his youth. He was a devoted and loving husband and father and cherished the times he spent with his family. In addition to his wife, Tony is survived by his daughter, Sandy Ryan and husband Mark of Kennesaw, Georgia and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George Tonsetic and John Tonsetic and four sisters, Kate Tonsetic, Ann Tonsetic, Millie Zappia and Theresa Papa. William Duncan, Jr.
William W. Duncan, Jr., 73, of New Castle passed away the evening of February 6, 2014 at Edison Manor. He was born on May 29, 1940 in Vestaburg, PA to the late William W. Sr. and Viola P. Brocco Duncan. On June 17, 1964, he married his beloved wife, the former Karen Werner. She survives at home. In 1993, William retired from his position as a Biology teacher for New Castle High School after 31 years. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his wife, William is survived by his children, Billy Duncan and wife Jennifer of New Castle and Kristen Watson and husband Christopher of Cumming, GA; brother, Homer Duncan of North Royalton, OH; and grandchildren, Jacob Duncan, Faith Duncan, Makenna Watson, and Alayna Watson. Louise M. Nasal, 96, formerly of E. Division St. passed away the morning of February 8, 2014 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born in New Castle on October 15, 1917, Louise was the daughter of the late Anthony and Constance Faraone DeBiase. Preceding her in death on March 9, 2005 is her husband, Joseph G. Nasal whom she married on September 15, 1941. Louise was a devoted member of St. Vitus Church,volunteered for the St. Vincent de Paul Society and was a member of the Blue Army of Fátima. She was also a long time volunteer for hospice. Louise was a former employee of West Penn Plastics and Pittsburgh Plastics where she worked in Quality Control. She is survived by her five children, Dorothy L. Pratt of Ohio; Marie T. Carney of New Castle; Christine L. Piacquadio and husband Michael of South Carolina; Joseph M. Nasal and wife Sandi of New Castle; Carl M. Nasal and wife Karen of Virginia; sisters, Antoinette Layton and Julia Lavaglio, both of New Castle; twelve grandchildren, twenty one great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Louise is preceded in death by her sisters, Theresa Chill, Agnes Petrangeli, Mary Audia, Charlotte LaRosa, her brother, Louis DeBiase, her son-in-law, Martin Carney and her grandson-in-law, Michael Porada. John Marino
John Marino, Jr., 63, of Ellwood City, Pa. passed away the morning of February 10, 2014 in Ellwood City Hospital. Born in New Castle on March 12, 1950, John was the son of the late John, Sr. and Corinne Cole Marino. He retired from the Department of Public Welfare and prior to that he had worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Health – Division of Vital Records. John was a proud graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree and then went on to earn his Masters Degree from Slippery Rock University. John was an avid golfer and was a loyal University of Pittsburgh Panther fan. John will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his brother, David Marino of Ellwood City; his sister, Diane and husband Tim Mike of Ellwood City; two nieces, Kristen and husband Thomas Campbell, Jr.; Marissa Mike, his great-niece, Isabella Campbell and great-nephew, Darren Campbell. Pamela Sipe
Pamela Jean Sipe, 58, of E. Lutton St. passed away on February 11, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with serious health problems. Born on July 1, 1955 in New Wilmington, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Calvin, Sr. and Mary Mitchelltree Sipe. Pamela enjoyed music, campfires and barbecues. She also enjoyed playing cards and scrabble. Pamela loved spending time with her children and her grandchildren. She is survived by her four children, James Buxton, Jr. and wife Jackie of Pulaski; Natalie Buxton of Mercer; Kelly Grannis and husband Joseph of New Castle; Gracie Buxton of Pulaski; her brother, Calvin Sipe, Jr. of New Castle; her sister, Linda Finnemore of Mercer; ten grandchildren, James Buxton III, Brandy Buxton, Kyle Buck, Heavenlie and Morgan Buxton, Chandler, Dakota, Nevada and Shane Grannis and Steven Grantom, Jr. and two great-grandchildren, Chris Carbone III and Nevaehann Carbone. Brady Flamino
Brady J. Flamino, 82, of Neshannock Township passed away the morning of February 17, 2014 at the Jameson Care Center. Born in New Castle on November 16, 1931, Brady was the son of the late Domenic and Yolanda Colecchi Flamino. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife the former Anna May Venturella whom he married on July 5, 1955. Brady was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Mary, Mother of Hope Parish and in his earlier years sang in the church choir. Brady was a 1949 graduate of New Castle Area High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War while stationed in Trieste, Italy. Brady retired from Preston Trucking Company where he had worked as a truck driver. In his earlier years he had worked for McLean Trucking and prior to that he had worked for Rockwell International. He was a member of the Teamsters Local Number 261. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and was an avid fan of all the Pittsburgh area sports teams. Brady was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved his family and cherished all the times he spent with them. In addition to his wife, Brady is survived by his two sons, Brian A. Flamino and wife Susan of New Castle; Brady C. Flamino, Sr. and wife Diane of New Castle; his daughter, Marcia of Houston, Texas; his brothers, Chester Flamino and wife Connie of New Castle; David Flamino of New Castle; Paul Flamino and wife Virginia of Odenton, Maryland; Walter Flamino and wife Rita of New Castle; three sisters, Margaret Flamino of New Castle; Corinne Coté of St. Pete Beach, Florida; Mary Lou Melder and husband Robert of New Castle; six grandchildren, Alexandria Flamino, Lea Flamino, Christina Flamino, Brady Flamino, Jr., Douglas Flamino, Steven Flamino and numerous nieces and nephews. Anthony D. (Joker) Goclano, Jr., 82, of New Castle passed away the morning of February 16, 2014 at his residence. Born on February 23, 1931 in New Castle, Anthony was the son of the late Anthony, Sr. and Mary DiPalmo Goclano. Surviving at home is his loving wife of sixty years, the former Josephine Venditto. Anthony was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War era. He was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Parish. Anthony retired from Scholl-Choffin Plumbing and Heating Company. After retirement he worked as a courier for Jameson Memorial Hospital. Anthony was a member of Teamsters Local for Youngstown and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was an avid golfer. Ernestine Orrico
Ernestine ‘Tina’ Orrico, 86, of Ryan Ave. passed away the morning of February 19, 2014 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born on May 20, 1927 in Farrell, Pa., Ernestine was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth DeMartinis Zappa. Preceding her in death on January 16, 1978 is her husband, Joseph L. Orrico, Jr. Ernestine was a devoted and faithful member of St. Joseph the Worker Church and its Mary Martha Guild. She retired from New Castle Area School District where she worked in the cafeteria. Ernestine was a member of the St. Joseph Widows Club and for fifty years, the Ryan Ave. Card Club. She was a faithful viewer of the Eternal Word Television Network. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished the times she spent with her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lee Tomei and husband Joseph; her three sons, Richard ‘Rocky’ Orrico and wife Geri; David Orrico and wife Gayle and James Orrico and wife Danene, all of New Castle; her sister, Rose Pendel of Farrell, Pa; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Ernestine is preceded in death by her two children, Ronald Orrico, an infant daughter, her brothers, Felix Zappa, Clyde Zappa, Carl Zappa, Leo Zappa, John Zappa and three sisters, Philomena Barretta, Marie Zappa and Leonilda Kahl. Louis Zambelli
Louis A. Zambelli, Sr., 88, of Neshannock Township passed away the evening of February 18, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 15, 1926 in New Castle and was the son of the late Anthony and Mary Tuscano Zambelli. On February 18, 1950 he married his wife, the former Diana F. Ferri. She preceded him in death January 13, 2007. Mr. Zambelli proudly spent his entire working career with the family business, Zambelli Fireworks. He was a master pyrotechnician who was also involved in the manufacturing and making of the fireworks. His profession started in May 1946 until his retirement in December 2013. At the end of his career he worked as a consultant for the company. His line of business took him all over the country and around the world twice which included some very special exhibits. Mr. Zambelli had the pleasure of putting on displays for seven of our U.S. Presidents as well as for Pope John Paul II. Louis was a United States Army veteran; serving in the European Theatre of World War II. He was a member of the 3rd company; serving under General Patton as his Mess Sergeant. Mr. Zambelli enjoyed yard work and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh sports teams. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who’s greatest joy was the time spent with his family; especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the American Legion Post #343, a member of St. Vitus Church and the church’s Holy Name Society. Louis is survived by two daughters, Linda Chrobak and husband Daniel and Gina Zambelli both of New Castle; one son Louis A. Zambelli, Jr. and wife Connie of Rochester, NY and five grandchildren, Danielle Patton and husband Michael, Brian Chrobak, Louis A. Zambelli III, Dominic Zambelli and Mariel Zambelli. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Carmen Zambelli, Joseph Zambelli and George Zambelli and three sisters, Rita Irace, Concetta Tommelleo and Annabelle Angelucci. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM and Sunday from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3000 Wilmington Road. Clinton Payne
Clinton Ray Payne, 55, passed away on February 14, 2014 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 9, 1958 in New Castle, PA to Betty Altman Payne and Robert Eugene Payne, Sr. Clinton attended New Castle High School and continued his career in the United States Army serving from 1978 to 1983. Clinton enjoyed playing basketball, baseball and tag football. He also enjoyed reading the Bible, watching movies, and playing cards with his daughter, Nesha. Survivors include his children, Starlette Davis and Nesha Savage, both of New Castle; brothers, Larry Payne of Chicago, IL and William Payne of Rimersburg, PA; sisters, Brenda Brownfield of Chicago and Betty Payne of New Castle, PA. Clinton was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James O. Payne, Leonard E. Payne, and Robert Eugene Payne, Jr.; and paternal and maternal grandparents. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11am to 12noon at St. Paul Baptist Church 616 W. North St. New Castle, Pa. 16101. Services will also be held Saturday at 12noon at the church. Evangline Guncy
Evangeline F. Guncy, 75, of Mahoningtown, PA passed away the evening of February 22, 2014 at Jameson Care Center. Born on January 31, 1939 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Amelia Felix Barattiero. On June 29, 1957, she married her beloved husband, Robert “Red” Guncy, and the two spent over 55 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death on October 18, 2012. Evangeline retired from her position as manager of the snack bar for Treasure Island after more than 20 years of service. A devout member of St. Vincent DePaul Church, she was a member of the Holy Rosary Society and was very involved with church activities. Evangeline also enjoyed baking and reading, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Evangeline is survived by her children, Robin Wolfe and Lorrie Matteo and husband Chris, all of New Castle; sisters, Florence Boak and husband Bill and Louise Marino and husband Tom, all of New Castle; and grandchildren, Kylee Pastrick and husband John and Andrew Matteo. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Jeffery S. Guncy; son-in-law, Rickie A. Wolfe; and sister, Carol A. Lease. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home Wednesday at 9:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Vincent DePaul Church, officiated by Father William Siple. Interment will take place at St. Lucy Cemetery.

William D. Freshcorn, Sr., 67, of North Beaver St. passed away the evening of February 23, 2014 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born on April 21, 1946 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Freeman M. Sr. and Doris McClimans Freshcorn. Surviving him at home is his wife, the former Agnes M. Holland. William retired from his job as a truck driver and previously worked for Jefferson Poultry, B&O Railroad, and Community Alternatives. He was a huge sports enthusiast and loved to go on walks with his dog. An avid outdoorsman, William enjoyed the four seasons of Pennsylvania while hunting and fishing. His greatest joy came from cooking and spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, David Freshcorn and wife Pam of New Castle, Robert Freshcorn and wife Cara of Morgantown, WV, and Joseph Freshcorn of Naples, FL; step-sons, Joseph Holland and Dana of Dallas, TX and Christopher Triplett of New Castle; step-daughter, Evelyn Triplett of New Castle; brothers, Harry Freshcorn of Joplin, MO, Lee Henry Atwell of Hollywood, FL, and Freeman Freshcorn of New Castle; sisters, Gayle Hubbard of Susanville, CA, Sara Atwell of Portersville, PA, and Adda Roberts of Manteca, CA; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, William D. Marlea Llewellyn
Marlea Kay Llewellyn, 47, of Sugar Hill, Georgia passed away February 26, 2014 in Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, Georgia. Born in New Castle on January 14, 1967, Marlea was the daughter of the late Robert Shields and Flossie Louise Jones Llewellyn. She was a member of Sugar Hill Church in Georgia. Marlea graduated from the Lawrence County Vocational Technical High School in 1984. She attended Florida Metro University in Tampa, Florida where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology and an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal studies. Marlea had been working as a Legal Consultant, Litigation Paralegal and Office Manager for Credigy Corporation in Georgia. She was an avid volunteer for the American Cancer Association including the Community Action Team and the Committee Chairperson of the Annual Fundraisers. Marlea was also a Gwinnett County Court Appointed GUARDIAN AD LITEM. She is survived by her four brothers, Robert M. Llewellyn of Greenville, S.C.; Bryan W. Llewellyn of Cocoa, FL; R. Scott Llewellyn of New Castle, Pa; Jerry Dean Llewellyn of Sugar Hill, GA; three sisters, Diana Lynn Llewellyn of New Castle, Pa; Marjorie Llewellyn Gavin of Monroe, N.C.; Brenda Llewellyn Roberts of New Castle, Pa and several nieces and nephews.
