Frank P. (Rusty) Lombardo, 71, of N. Wayne St. passed away the afternoon of March 11, 2016 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born in New Castle on March 15, 1944, Frank was the son of Juanita Klingensmith Lombardo of New Castle and the late Albert R. Lombardo Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of over fifty years, the former Jennifer Melchiorre, who he married on June 19, 1965. Frank was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Parish. He had served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. In earlier years, Frank worked for Rockwell International and eventually retired from the New Castle Foundry where he worked as a coremaker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a member of the St. Marquerite Society and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 315. In addition to his mother and wife, Frank is survived by his two children, Ricky A. Lombardo and Michelle M. Holland, both of New Castle, his brother, Raymond Lombardo and his wife Lynn of New Castle; and his three grandchildren, Matthew Holland, Danielle Barnhart and Mark A. Vitale. In addition to his father, Frank is preceded in death by his three brothers, Albert (Chookie) Lombardo, Jr., Jerry Lombardo and Richard Lombardo. Visitation is Tuesday from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military honors at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:15AM. A procession will leave the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:30AM for St. Vincent De Paul Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM officiated by Rev. Father William Siple. Burial will take place at St. Lucy Cemetery.
