Carl L. “Bucky” Phillips, 75, of New Castle, peacefully passed away the afternoon of December 9, 2015 at Jameson Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. Born on June 17, 1940 in New Castle, he was the son of the late James and Marian Heinline Phillips. Surviving at home is his beloved wife of 56 wonderful years, the former Joanne Plink, whom he married on February 7, 1959. In 1999, Carl retired from his job in the Meter Department for Penn Power after 35 years of service. He was a member of Hoover Heights Christian Missionary Alliance Church. In his early years, Carl was an avid baseball player. He also enjoyed hunting and going to his camp, and he also was an avid Steelers fan. Carl was known for his woodworking and crafts which he gave to all of his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, Carl is survived by his daughter, Karen Ferrante and her companion Casey Marino of New Castle; sister, Beverly Greaf and husband Robert of New Castle; sister-in-law, Pearl Phillips of New Castle; brother-in-law, Harvey Daugherty of New Castle; grandchildren, Krystina Corrins and husband Greg and James Ferrante and wife Lexi. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin sister, Carol Daugherty; sisters, Doris Rigby and Vivian Roush; brothers, Jim Phillips and Sam Phillips; and mother and father-in-law, James and Mary Plink. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. Services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00am at the funeral home, officiated by Reverend Larry Llewellyn of Hoover Heights Christian Missionary Alliance Church. Interment will take place in Parkside Cemetery.
