James L. Hiler Jr., 67, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of October 14, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born on June 7, 1948 in New Castle, he was the son of the late James L. Sr. and Rose M. Zona Hiler. James retired from his positions as a house parent for the Youth Development Center and a caregiver for LCARC. He also was the former owner of Mio’s Market and Catering. James served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era. An avid sports enthusiast, he had been a fast pitch softball coach for several local schools and enjoyed playing golf, morra, and bocce in many local tournaments and leagues. James is survived by his children, Bryan Hiler, Kevin Hiler and wife Jan, all of New Castle, Christina Sauls and husband James of Northport, AL, and Jami Wigton of New Castle; brother, Dennis Hiler Sr. of Bessemer, PA; sister, Patricia Hautala of New Castle; former wife, Lory Adams-Hiler of Poland, OH; and grandchildren, Rosa, Melissa, Kali, Julionna, Carson, and Mara. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am to 11:00am at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. Services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00am at the funeral home, officiated by Reverend Richard Nero. Entombment will take place in Resurrection Mausoleum.
