Grace E. Spiers, 95, formerly of Franklin Avenue, of E. Pearl Street, passed away the morning of May 4, 2015. Born on March 1, 1920 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late William and Carrie Elizabeth Stevenson Moore. On November 27, 1941, she married her beloved husband, Thomas J. Spiers, and the two spent over 59 years together until he preceded her in death on May 29, 2001. In her early years, Grace worked as a gold liner for Shenango Pottery. She was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. An avid fisherwoman, Grace spent many years vacationing in Canada. She also enjoyed painting. Grace is survived by her daughters, Sharon Staph and husband Nunzie, Suzanne Spiers, and Sally Pia and husband Frank, all of New Castle; sister, Dolores Kerr of Rapid City, SD; and grandchildren, Nunzio Staph, Suellen Staph, and Sean Morgan. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, William S. Moore. There are no calling hours planned. A private memorial service will be held at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd, officiated by Reverend Matthew Bupp. Interment will take place in Oak Park Cemetery.
