Nicholas C. Acquillo, 88, of Jameson Place, passed away the evening of March 26, 2015 at Jameson Care Center. Born on July 31, 1926 in Mercer County, PA, he was the son of the late Carmine and Concetta Marino Acquillo. On September 11, 1948, he married his beloved wife, the former Erna B. Kormann, and the two spent over 47 wonderful years together until she preceded him in death on May 17, 1996. In his earlier years, Nicholas worked as a salesman for Waldman’s Meats. He then was a supervisor for various Isaly’s Stores in the area. Nicholas later retired as an owner of Isaly’s Store in Westgate Plaza. He also served as a member of the US Army in Europe during World War II. Nicholas enjoyed travelling, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Nicholas is survived by his daughters, Gloria Acquillo of Sewickley, PA and Claudia Palisin and husband Jonathan of Hermitage, PA; one brother; one sister; and grandchildren, Michael and Kelsey. Nicholas is also survived by his fiancée, Bernice Hilke, and her four daughters. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his sister, Ann Burrelli, and grandson, Eric. Private services were held Friday at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd, officiated Father Michael Peck, pastor of St. Camillus Church. Interment is in Castleview Memorial Gardens.
