Jennie Graziani, 101, of East Oakwood Way, formerly of Butler Avenue, passed away the morning of January 25, 2015 at Jameson Care Center. Born on December 23, 1913 in Marianna, PA, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Marie Costanza Damato. Also preceding her in death is her beloved husband of many years, Viero (Yates) Graziani, whom preceded her in death on April 10, 1989. Jennie will always be remembered for her love of family. She married during the Depression years, so helping her parents and siblings was always a priority when she moved to New Castle. She raised four children. She loved sports, especially baseball and the Pittsburgh Pirates, whom she followed for 80 years until last summer. She also met her husband while she was playing softball. Her second favorite pastime was playing poker with friends and family members which she did until she was 96 years old. An avid gardener and baker, her famous pies and cooking were legendary. Jennie was a past member of St. Vitus Church and the Ladies Guild of St. Vitus Church. She was also a past officer of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America, Sons of Italy, and the Unione Calabro Americana Society. Jennie is survived by her children, Alfred (Fred) Graziani and wife Bobbie of Clearwater, FL, Zeta Piccirillo and husband Alexander (Sam) of New Castle, Rosemary Lankford and husband Walker of New Castle, and Susan Phillips and husband Joseph of Export, PA; sister, Philomena (Fannie) Marks of New Castle; grandchildren, Ann Alessi, Luke Graziani, Sandra Seltzer, Mark Graziani, Nicole Jones, Jennie Aderson, Jessica Phillips, and Emily Phillips; and great-grandchildren, Alex, Niko, Matthew, Dante, Mario, Kaitlin, Taylor, Miley, Mia, Isaiah, Lianna, Joey-Lynn, Olivia, and Antonio. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Charles, Frank, John, Vincent, and Patsy Damato; and sisters, Theresa Rossi, Florence Jennette, and Rose Valenti. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. A procession will leave the funeral home Thursday at 10:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at St. Vitus Church, officiated by Father William Siple. Entombment will take place in Castleview Memorial Gardens.
