Janet Malizia Heichel, 65, of Union Township, passed away the morning of October 30, 2014 at her residence. Born on August 5, 1949 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Helen Zona Malizia. Surviving her at home is her beloved husband of 47 years, James “Hike” Heichel, whom she married on April 13, 1967. After 29 years of work, Janet retired from her job as an administrative assistant for First National Bank. She was a member of Mary Mother of Hope Parish. Janet enjoyed going to the family camp and spending time outdoors. She was a loving wife and mother and a proud grandmother to her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Janet is survived by her children, Richard Heichel of New Castle and Michele Ross and husband Mark of Flint, MI; brother, Michael “Mickey” Malizia and wife Carol of New Castle; and her grandchildren, Ashlee and Lauryn Ross, whom meant the world to her. Visitation will take place Sunday from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A blessing service will be conducted Monday at 11:00am at the funeral home, officiated by Father Michael Ackerman. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery.
