Julia Ida Schofield, 91, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of January 13, 2013 at Jameson Hospital. Born in New Castle on May 4, 1921, Julia was the daughter of the late William and Louise DiPasquali Caparoula. Preceding her in death in 1968 was her husband, Eli Schofield who she married in 1938. Julia was a member of St. Vitus Church. Julia had worked at Shenango China and prior to that she worked for Reliable Luggage. Julia loved working seek and find puzzles and making crafts. Survivors include one son, William Schofield of Youngstown, Oh; three daughters, Julia DeHaven of Coitsville, Oh; JoAnn Scavotto of Youngstown, Oh; Sandra Finamore of New Castle; three brothers, James Caparoula, Robert Caparoula, Richard Caparoula, all of New Castle; six sisters, Theresa Suzow, Sylvia Peabody, Mary Scully, Adeline Scully, Gilda Jackson, Nora Robinson, all of New Castle; twenty one grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren and thirty two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Julia is preceded in death by one daughter, Bertha Houk, her sister, Phyllis Yeropoli and one brother, John Caparoula. Visitation is Thursday from 5PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. A Blessing Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11:30AM officiated by Rev. Father Nicholas Vaskov of St. Vitus Church. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery.
