Mary Gillette, 89, of Pittsburgh, PA, formerly of Federal Street in New Castle, passed away the afternoon of September 15, 2014 at St. Margaret’s Hospital. Born on February 14, 1925 in Harrisville, PA, she is the daughter of the late Mary Accia. Surviving her at home is her beloved husband of 68 years, Francis Gillette, whom she married on October 27, 1945. Mary was a member of St. Vitus Church. In her youth, Mary enjoyed dancing with a special love for tap dancing. In addition, she was known for being an excellent cook and baker. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she always looked forward to holidays with family and friends enjoying her bakery treats. In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her children, Jerry Gillette and wife Carol of Greensburg, PA, Gary Gillette and wife Karen of New Castle, and Randy Gillette of New Castle; grandchildren, Allison Haberkorn and husband A.J., Brad Gillette and wife Michaelene, Kim Gillette, Brian Gillette, and Randy Gillette Jr.; three great-grandchildren; 23 nieces and nephews; and her caregiver and neighbor Kathy Beltz of New Castle. In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her sister, Rose Micco, and brother, Joseph Gervase. Visitation will be held Saturday from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. Blessing services will be conducted Saturday at the funeral home at 2:00pm, officiated by Father Frank Almade. Interment will be held at Parkside Cemetery.
