Joan M. Cover, 78, of Wilmington Rd. passed away the morning of June 12, 2014 at her residence. Born in Ellwood City on July 3, 1935, Joan was the daughter of the late John and Josephine Zohosky Frickanish. Preceding her in death on January 1, 2014, is her husband, Floyd Milton Cover, whom she married on June 8, 1974. Joan was a member of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish. Joan retired after thirty dedicated years of teaching at Shenango Elementary School. During this time she was awarded “The Gift of Time” for teaching and was listed three times in the “Who’s Who” among America’s Teachers. She was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association and the National Education Association. She is survived by her brother, John “Jack” Frickanish and his wife Ruth of Ellwood City and her sisters, Anna Mae Nerti and husband Phil of Wampum; Joyce Dailey and husband Richard of Girard, OH; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Joan is preceded in death by her brother, James Frickanish. Visitation is Friday from 3PM to 6PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. A procession will leave the funeral home on Saturday morning at 10AM for St. Mary’s Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM. Rev. Father James Downs pastor of Christ the King Parish will officiate. Burial will take place at Castle View Memorial Gardens.
