Richard R. (Rack) Macri, 77, of New Castle, passed away the morning of May 27, 2014 at his residence. Born in Hillsville, Pa. on September 3, 1936, Richard was the son of the late Gaspero and Ammecolata Luca Macri. Surviving at home is his loving and devoted wife, the former Frances Parente, whom he married on August 10, 1957. Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church. Richard retired from Laborers Union Local No. 1058. He had worked for Lindy Paving, Inc., Ro-Med Construction and IA Construction Companies. He enjoyed gardening and time spent with his neighbors and friends. Nothing was more important to Richard than his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his three children, Ricky and his wife Beth Whiteman Macri of New Castle; Randy and his wife Luanne Hamilton Macri of New Castle; Lisa and her husband Pat Currie of Chippewa Township; his brother, Joseph Macri and his wife Connie of Massapequa, NY; and his five grandchildren, Justin, Jordan, Tara, Brennan and Amanda. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Samuel Macri, Vincent Macri and five sisters, Theresa Pia, Catherine Pia, Judith Ieraci, Anna Ieraci and Mary Cook. Visitation is Thursday from 4PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home on Friday morning at 9:30AM for St. Joseph the Worker Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM officiated by Rev. Father Nicholas Vaskov. Burial will take place in Parkside Cemetery.
