Donna J. Hess, 86, of 111 Links Dr. passed away the morning of May 13, 2014 at Jameson Hospital. Born in New Castle on June 21, 1927, Donna was the daughter of the late Harold and Blanche Cotton White. Preceding her in death on January 16, 1999 is her husband, George F. Hess whom she married on January 3, 1945. Donna was a member of New Hope Wesleyan Church. She retired from Jameson Hospital where she worked in the cafeteria for seventeen years. She was a member of VFW Post 315 Ladies Auxiliary and the First Baptist Church Sparklers Bible Study Group. In earlier years, Donna enjoyed traveling to Florida with her husband. She cherished the times she spent with her family and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by two children, her son, Gary Hess and his wife Candy; her daughter, Beverly Stoops, both of New Castle; her sister, Lois Kale of New Castle; her son-in-law, Gerald Neely of New Castle; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, George W. Hess, Asa E. Hess; her daughter, Elaine Neely and her son-in-law, David Stoops. Visitation is Thursday from 5PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. Services will be held on Friday at 11AM at the funeral home officiated by Rev. Gary DeWitt, pastor of New Hope Wesleyan Church and Pastor John Yergan of First Baptist Church. Burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery.
