Linda P. Lykins, 59, of New Castle passed away the evening of March 25, 2014 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Born on April 17, 1954 in Glen Dale, WV, she was the daughter of Betty Cromer Soles and the late James “Ike” Soles. On February 14, 1970, she married her beloved husband, the late Hubert Lykins, and the two spent over 30 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death on November 7, 2002. Linda worked as a nurse for Rhodes Estates and was a former member of the Evangel Community Church. She enjoyed reading, gardening, knitting, crocheting, baking, and traveling. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially during their game nights. In addition to her mother, Linda is survived by her children, Hubert Lykins of Ashlind, OH, Scott Lykins of Berkely Springs, WV, Curtis Lykins of Kronenwetter, WI, Melissa Lykins of New Castle, and Linda McDermott of New Castle; brothers, James Soles and Ike Soles, both of WV; sisters, Wilda Nedley of GA, Debbie Coleman of WV, and Betty Litman of WV; and seven grandchildren, Caitlyn, Audra “Peeps”, Little Hughie, Davianna, Alyssa, Tyler, and Ryan. In addition to her father and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Larry Soles. Visitation will be held Saturday 2pm to 5pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. Following the visitation, a service will be held at 5pm at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Kenneth Meyer of First Assembly of God of New Castle. Burial will take place at Oak Park Cemetery.
