Virginia T. Gearin, 100, of New Castle passed away the evening of November 28, 2012 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Virginia was born on December 13, 1911 in Youngstown, OH to the late William C. and Jennie Baldwin Allen. She was married for 67 years to the love of her life Charles (Jake) W. Gearin who passed on February 3, 2010. Virginia was a homemaker who took pride in being a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was known by all as a wonderful, caring and generous person. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church. Virginia is survived by a daughter Patricia A. and husband Don Columbus of New Castle; two grandchildren, Christine and husband Jon Moon and Todd Columbus; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Beck and Jarek Moon. In addition to her parents and husband, Charles, Virginia is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Allen, sisters Vera George and Delores Lockley and an infant sister Mary Elizabeth Allen. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 AM to 11 AM at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Rd. A service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday at the funeral home conducted by Reverend John Yergan of First Baptist Church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
