Madeline D. Gensante, 94, of Jameson Place, passed away the evening of July 6, 2013 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 14, 1919 in New Castle to the late Cesidio and Domenica Taddei Smarrelli. She married Leo Gensante, Sr., and they were together more than 50 years when he passed.
Madeline worked for many years as a well known and sought after sales associate in women’s clothing for Strauss Department Store. She was also a member of St. Vitus Church.
She is survived by her children, Leo Gensante, Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Freedom, PA and Nancy Buckwalter and husband John of Export, PA; grandchildren, Joseph Gensante, Suzanne Kasunich, Emily Bundy, and John Buckwalter, Jr.; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by three brothers, Augustine Smarrelli, Fred Smarrelli, and Carmen Smarrelli, and two sisters, Mary Rotz and Edith Yager.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4PM to 7PM at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 11AM at St. Vitus Church with a procession leaving the funeral home at 10:30AM. Father Frank Almade, pastor of St. Vitus Church, will officiate.
Entombment will take place at Castleview Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that donations be made to the charity of the donor’s choosing in her memory.
