John R. Scully, 63, of Kennerdell, PA, passed away the morning of June 11, 2013 at Edison Manor Rehabilitation Center. He was born in New Castle on July 9, 1949 to Mary (Caparoula) Scully and the late William H. Scully, Sr. His father preceded him in death, and his mother survives in New Castle. John married the former Rhonda Lewis who survives.
John retired from CSX Railroad where he worked as a brakeman. He was a former member of St. Vitus Church. An avid sportsman, he loved golf, fishing, and hunting. He also loved spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his mother and wife, John is survived by a son, Christopher Scully of New Castle; two stepsons, Mike Rice and Greg Rice, both of New Castle; brother, William H. Scully, Jr. of New Castle; and three step-grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 12Noon to 2PM at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St, followed by a blessing service at 2PM at the funeral home.
Interment will take place at St. Vitus Cemetery.
