Eugene P. Pace, 89, formerly of Gretchen St. passed away the morning of May 31, 2013 at the Lawrence County Geri-Care Center.
Born on April 14, 1924 in New Castle, Eugene was the son of the late Pasquale and Catherine Alfera Pace. Surviving is his wife the former Helen M. Sousa who he married on June 16, 1945.
Eugene is a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. He retired from the Crane Company where he worked as a pattern maker. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and gardener. In earlier years, Eugene was an umpire for softball teams and refereed football games. Eugene enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and will be sadly missed.
In addition to his wife, Eugene is survived by his son, Gary Pace and his wife Carolyn of Centerville, TX; two grandchildren, Jennifer Snoderly and Cathy Pace; and three great-grandchildren.
Eugene is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Eugene Pace; his brother, John Pace; and an infant sister, Pauline.
Visitation is Tuesday from 4PM to 7PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. A Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday at 12Noon at the funeral home officiated by Rev. Father Frank Almade of St. Vitus church. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military honors at the funeral home.
Interment will take place at Castleview Memorial Gardens.
