Jean Ezzo

Jean C. Ezzo, 101, formerly of Rhodes Place passed away the morning of December 10, 2012 at the Jameson Care Center. Born on June 22, 1911 in New Castle, Jean was the daughter of the late Philip and Philomena Ventresca Lostracco. Preceding her in death on December 6, 1978 is her husband Harry A. Ezzo, Sr. who she married on August 20, 1931. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, it’s Christian Mothers and the Holy Rosary Sodality. In earlier years, Jean worked as a sales clerk for Strouss-Hirshberg Department Store for fifteen years. Prior to that she had worked at the Box Factory during WWII. Jean was a member of the St. Margaret’s Society. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family. Jean also enjoyed traveling several times to Italy, going to the Rivers Casino, playing bingo and crocheting. Jean was known as a loving and doting wife, mother and grandmother who was named Mother of the Year in 1970 by the Columbus Club Auxiliary. She cherished the time spent with her family and friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her daughter, Loretta Ann Sharek and her husband Alex of New Castle; her son, Harry Ezzo, Jr. and his wife Sue of Strongsville, Oh; her son-in-law, Sam Cepro of New Castle; her eight grandchildren, Brenda Long and husband Terry, Colleen Ezzo, Todd Ezzo and wife Bobbi, Keith Ezzo and wife Lois, Sam Cepro, Jr and wife Linda, Cheryl Houk and husband Doug, Lisa Nocera and husband Carmen, Lori Smith and husband Ronnie, eightteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. In addition to her parents and husband, Jean is preceded in death by one daughter, Delores Jean Cepro, daughter-in-law, Virginia Ezzo, sister, Maria Angeline Fox and two brothers, Anthony Lostracco and Carl Lostracco. Visitation is Wednesday from 5PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home on Thursday morning at 9:30AM for St. Vincent de Paul Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM. Rev. Father William Siple will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lucy Cemetery.
