Robert H. Turner, 85, of New Castle, passed away the morning of March 21, 2013 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 9, 1927 to the late Howard and Nettie Brandt Turner. He married Helen S. Booher in July 1951, and they were happily together for 61 years. He served in the 1265th Engineer Combat BN in Germany during World War II. Robert retired from Columbia Gas where he worked as an inspector. He was also the co-owner of Turner’s Archery Shop. He was a former member of the First Reformed Presbyterian Church, formerly on Oak Street. Robert was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Along with his wife, Robert is survived by his two sons, Robert Turner and wife Linda of New Castle and Richard Turner and wife Tish of New Castle; one daughter, Carol McFarland and husband Alan of New Castle; brother, Howard Turner of New Castle; and two grandchildren, Emily Turner Wilkes and husband David and Bob Williams Turner and wife Michelle. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Colbert and Betty Kaufman. There will be a visitation held on Monday from 11 am to 1 pm at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. Services will be held on Monday at 1 pm at the funeral home by Rev. Chris Curtis from New Covenant Evangelical Church. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military rites at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the Unity Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jameson Hospice 1211 Wilmington Ave New Castle, PA 16105.
