Former New Castle resident, Robert A. Johnson, 79, of Beaver Falls, PA, passed away the morning of November 17, 2015 at his residence. Born on May 26, 1936 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Felix and Elizabeth Alfera Johnson. On June 30, 1962, he married his beloved wife, the former Elizabeth Ann (Betty) James, and the two spent over 31 wonderful years together until she preceded him in death on December 29, 1993. Robert retired from his job as a civil engineer for PennDOT, and he then worked as a consultant for the Turnpike Commission. He was a member of St. Vitus Church. Robert was a former member of the Jameson Hospital Committee and Cascade Park Committee. He enjoyed gardening and watching college football, especially Notre Dame. Robert is survived by his children, Regina Johnson and Bettina Marie Nero, both of Beaver Falls, PA; sister, Jackie Johnson of New Castle; and granddaughter, Cetta Elizabeth Natale of Beaver Falls, PA. Blessing services will be conducted Friday at 1:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd, officiated by Father William Siple of St. Vitus Church. Entombment will take place in Castleview Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s honors to 365 Hospice, 2549 Mosside Blvd, Monroeville, PA 15146 or any no kill animal shelter of the donor’s choice.
