Harry Grannis

Harry Grannis, 76, of New Castle, entered into eternal life the evening of March 10, 2015 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born on October 24, 1938 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Oscar and Mary C. Reagan Grannis. Harry retired from his job as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He also served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force and for the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a member of the Protestant faith. Harry belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #315. He loved to bowl, fish, play softball, cards, and horseshoes. He was an avid New Castle sports and Steelers fan. Harry is survived by his children, Robert Grannis of Allison Park, PA, Richard Grannis of Glen Burnie, MD, Deborah Bridgett of Waldorf, MD, Tracy Helmondollar of Lexington Park, MD, and Melinda Bingham and husband Joseph of Lexington Park, MD; brother, Raymond Grannis of New Castle; sisters, Kathleen Hunter and Laura Campbell, both of New Castle; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, James, Lawrence, and William Grannis; sister, Patricia Emes; and former wife, Nancy Lea Grannis. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. Services will be held Monday at 12:00pm at the funeral home, officiated by Reverend Dennis Bupp. Interment will take place at Parkside Cemetery.
