Darlene Caminiti

Darlene A. Caminiti, 71, of New Castle passed away the morning of February 3, 2015 at her residence. Born on December 16, 1943 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Knox Duda. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Steve Duda and wife Helen, who raised her from a young age. Surviving her at home is her beloved husband, Joseph A. Caminiti, Sr., whom she married on June 19, 1965. Darlene graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing. After 44 years of work, she retired from her job as a nurse for St. Francis Hospital and Jameson Hospital. A lasting display of her love of helping others, she had been named St. Francis Hospital Employee of the Year and Employee of the Month. She was a member of St. Vitus Church. While she enjoyed visiting casinos, she also enjoyed playing cards with her family. She was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan. Even though she was the youngest in her family, Darlene was the matriarch of her family. Darlene’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Darlene is survived by her children, Joseph Caminiti, Jr. and wife Wendi of New Providence, NJ, Douglas G. Caminiti of New Castle, and Marc A. Caminiti and wife Diana of New Castle; brother, John Duda of New Castle; sisters, Emily Mrozek of New Castle and Bernadine Styla of Southgate, MI; nephews with whom she was raised, Eugene, Dennis, and Theodore Duda; nephew whom she raised, James Caminiti; grandchildren, Brett, Hannah, David, and Olivia; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Steve, George, Edward, and Martin Duda; sisters, Mary Presnar, Dorothy Raskowski, and Helen Rose Duda; and nephew, David Duda. Visitation will be held Friday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home Saturday at 9:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Vitus Church at 10:00am, officiated by Father William Siple. Interment will take place at Parkside Cemetery.
