Opal Stitt, 75, of Scott Township passed away the evening of November 8, 2014 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born on May 20, 1939 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late G. Lester and Norma E. Patterson Dicks. Opal retired from the Lawrence County Home and previously worked at Nepco and as a security guard at Interforest Co. She was a member of Rich Hill Presbyterian Church. Opal also belonged to the PAH Association. She enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a horse enthusiast. Opal is survived by her children, Norma Jean Jackson of New Castle and Jackie Veon and husband Rusty of St. Augustine, FL; brothers, Raymond Dicks of Ellwood City, William Dicks of New Castle, and Robert Dicks of Portersville, PA; sisters, Mildred Emery and Jean Stewart, both of New Castle; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a great-grandson. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. Services will be conducted Wednesday at 12:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Rich Hill Cemetery.
