Robert C. Kerr, Sr., 73, of New Castle passed away the morning of October 16, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Hospice of Heritage Valley. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on February 28, 1941, Robert was the son of the late Harry and Jean Herzer Kerr. Surviving at home is his loving wife, the former Geraldine Stofick, whom he married on September 9, 1961. Robert was a member of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish. He retired from B&O Railroad where he worked as a brakeman. Robert was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed golf and was a founding member of the BIO Golf League. Robert was also a member of the Unione Calabrese Americana Society. Robert was a loving husband, father and grandfather and his greatest joy was the times he spent with his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his three children, Elizabeth Aven of Port St. Lucie, FL; Robert C. Kerr, Jr. of New Castle; Natalie Kerr of Honolulu, HI; his grandchild, Daniel Aven and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jack Kerr, Harry Kerr and two sisters, Jean Kelley and Joan Harris. Visitation is Sunday from 3PM to 7PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home on Monday morning at 9:30AM for St. Mary’s Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM by Rev. Father Michael Ackerman.
