Paul Sniezek

Paul John Sniezek, 66, of Neshannock Township passed away on September 28, 2014 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Born on May 12, 1948 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Walter J. and Anna Sniezek. Surviving him at home is his beloved wife, the former Janice Zona. A 1966 graduate of Union Area High School, Paul retired from his job as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service after working for 37 years. He also served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Paul belonged to V.F.W. Post 8755 in Sheffield, Polish Falcons of New Castle, Warren Electric Golf League, and Penn State Alumni Association of Lawrence County. He was a member of St. Camillus Church. He also was an avid golfer and was a true fan of Penn State and the Steelers. Paul was a gentle, caring man who will be sadly missed by his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by his children, Dr. Matthew Sniezek and wife Alison of Pittsburgh, PA, Janalee Patton and fiancé Rick Pierce of New Castle, Dr. Jack Fulkman and wife Dr. Debra Palazzi of League City, TX, and Christopher Fulkman of New Castle; step-children, Nicole Derbaum of Seven Fields, PA and Cara Reinard and husband Justin of Mars, PA; sisters, Delores Koscinski and husband Thomas of New Castle and Kathleen Matonak and husband William of Connecticut; grandchildren, Hailey Fulkman, Zachary Fulkman, Jake Fulkman, Ian Derbaum, Connor Derbaum, Jackson Reinard, and Charlotte Reinard; several nephews; and a niece. Visitation will take place Wednesday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. A blessing service will be held Thursday at 10:30am at the funeral home, officiated by Father James Downs of Christ the King Parish. Interment will take place at Parkside Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Paul’s honor to the Lawrence County Humane Society PO Box 62, New Castle, PA 16103 or the American Heart Association 840 Southwestern Run, Youngstown, OH 44514.
