Douglas Shoup

Douglas A. Shoup, 52, of W. Northview Ave. passed away the morning of August 8, 2014 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in New Castle on October 22, 1961, Doug was the son of the late Clifford and Lillas Wagner Shoup. On July 9, 1983, he married his loving and devoted wife, the former Janice Alfano. She survives at home. Doug was a member of St. Camillus Church. He worked for McConnell’s Sunoco Service Center. Prior to that, he had worked in the telecommunications field for many years as a project manager. Doug was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and ice hockey as a player, coach and fan. He enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Penguins, Pirates and Steelers. A true family man, Doug cherished the times he spent attending his children’s many sport and school activities and all the times spent with his family and many friends. In addition to his wife, Janice, Doug is survived by his three children, Corey Shoup, Jordan Shoup, and Kenny Shoup, all at home; his brother, Clifford (Tom) Shoup and his wife Cherie; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Clara Alfano; all of New Castle and his many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Linda Suchonic and brother-in-law, Paul Suchonic. Visitation is Monday from 3PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. A procession will leave the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:30AM for St. Camillus Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM officiated by Rev. Father Thomas Lewandowski. Entombment will take place at Parkside Cemetery and Mausoleum.
