Louis J. Colella, 100, formerly of Meadowview Blvd, passed away the morning of April 20, 2014 at Avalon Nursing Home. Born on December 8, 1913 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Dominic and Josephine Bullano Colella. On July 17, 1941, he married his beloved wife, the former Sylvia M. Zannoni, and the two spent over 65 wonderful years together until she preceded him in death on March 5, 2008. Louis retired from his job at Panella Company of West Pittsburg; prior to that, he worked as a purchasing foreman for Rockwell International. An devoted member of St. Vitus Church, he was a longtime usher. Louis loved gardening, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. Louis is survived by his children, Richard L. Colella and wife Ginger of South Lyon, MI and Joanna T. White and husband Harry of New Castle; grandchildren, Richard Colella, Carin Harris, Chris Dibbley, and Elizabeth Chill; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Colella and Emilio Colella, and sisters, Theresa Gennock, Lenore Conti, and Helen Bertolino. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. A procession will leave the funeral home Thursday at 9:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Vitus Church at 10:00am, officiated by Father Frank Almade. Entombment will take place at Parkside Mausoleum.
