Annabelle Maria Catarcio, 94, of Vista South passed away the evening of March 2, 2014 at Concordia Lutheran Ministries Nursing Center. Born in New Castle on October 11, 1919, Annabelle was the daughter of the late Luigi and Margaret Divino Nocera. Preceding her in death on February 14, 1978, is her husband, Anthony Carmen Catarcio, whom she married on May 11, 1939. She retired from Shenango Pottery where she had worked as an inspector. Annabelle was a devoted and active member of St. Vitus Church, the St. Vitus Ladies Guild and the St. Vitus Ladies of Charity. She was also a member of The Blue Army and the Third Order of St. Francis. Annabelle volunteered at the St. Vitus Festival and was one of the original cavatelli makers for the festival. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and the St. Francis Auxiliary. Annabelle was also an active member of the Lawrence County Blind Association. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Nick Catarcio and his wife Darlene of New Castle; her granddaughter, Nichole Columbus and husband Doug of New Castle and her two great-grandchildren, Alexandria and Christina. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her six brothers; Andrew Nocera, Anthony “Nails” Nocera, Henry Nocera, Albert Nocera, Joseph Nocera, Victor “Blackie” Nocera and her two sisters, Elizabeth Panzarella and Mary Pollino. Visitation is Wednesday from 4PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home on Thursday at 9:30AM for St. Vitus Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10AM. Rev. Father William Siple will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Vitus Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made and mailed to St. Vitus School 915 S.
