Stephen (Steve) J. Williams, 65, of Union Township passed away the afternoon of December 28, 2013 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio.
Born in New Castle on November 29, 1948, Steve was the son of the late John B. and Catherine Gaione Williams. Surviving at home is his loving and devoted wife, the former Janis Costa whom he married on November 29, 1969.
Steve was a member of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish. He was a 1966 graduate of Union Area High School and went on to graduate from Youngstown State University in 1971. Steve retired from Masterworks Paints and prior to that he had worked at Sears Department Store.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles where he had recently earned his Golden Eagle and the Casimir Pulaski Club. Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a avid golfer participating in different local leagues. He was also known for his homemade sausage. Steve was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished the times he spent with his family. He especially loved the times he spent with his four grandsons and was known for attending all their sporting events.
In addition to his wife, Steve is survived by his two daughters both of New Castle, Aleah Kelly and husband TJ and Stephanie Kelly and husband Joe; his brother, John Williams and wife Patti of New Castle; his sister, Lillian Manos and husband Sam of Deltona, FL; and his four grandsons, Joshua, Austin, Carson and Hunter.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Marie Squeglia and his mother-in-law and father -in-law, Tony and Dora Costa.
Visitation is Thursday from 5PM to 8PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 941 S. Mill St.
A procession will leave the funeral home on Friday at 9:30AM for St. Mary’s Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM.
Entombment will take place at Parkside Mausoleum.
