Esther D. Janacone, 81, of S. Scott St, passed away the afternoon of November 20, 2013 at her residence. Born on September 26, 1932 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Augustine and Tarsilla Bucci Giancola. On October 20, 1956, she married her loving husband of 57 years, Richard Janacone. He survives at home.
Esther worked in the Accounts Receivable department for Sparmon Fischler. She was a member of St. Vitus Church and a 1950 graduate of New Castle High School. She enjoyed travelling to Cape Hatteras with her family, seeing Broadway plays, and was a huge Pirates fan. Esther’s greatest joy, though, was feeding her friends and family. She was well known for her Pizza Saturdays at her summer home in Kennerdell. Her family will surely miss her loud laugh and beautiful smile.
In addition to her husband, Esther is survived by her children, David Janacone and wife Carol, Dyanne Janacone, and Debbie Miles and husband Ed, all of New Castle; and grandchildren, Michael, Janine, Jordan, and Zayna. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Bernard, Augustine, and Orest Giancola; and sisters, Ann and Yolanda Giancola.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4pm to 7pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10am at St. Vitus Church with a procession leaving the funeral home at 9:30am, officiated by Rev. Frank Almade.
Burial will take place at Parkside Cemetery.
