Rosetta P. DeAngelis, 93, of Neshannock Township passed away the morning of September 3, 2013.
Born in New Castle on September 30, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Rose Cozza Cherby. She married Nick V. DeAngelis on May 25, 1946. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1998.
Rosetta graduated from New Castle High School in January 1939. In her earlier years, she worked at Johnson Bronze before her marriage. Rosetta also worked at Jameson Hospital in the Dietary Department for several years, Grants Department Store, and for the distribution department of the New Castle News.
Mrs. DeAngelis was a member of St. Camillus Church and was a former member of the Ladies Guild for any years. She was also a member of the Ladies of the Dukes. Rosetta was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and cherished the holidays and time she spent with her family through her lifetime. She loved her family very much and often reminisced about her childhood and early adult life. Rosetta loved to travel with her late husband to Las Vegas, California, and Florida. She loved watching the Steelers and Pirates and attended two Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowls with her husband and son. In her free time, she loved baking, cooking, doing word puzzles, playing bingo, and playing the card game 500 Bid with her family.
She is survived by one daughter Patricia Staph and husband Guy of New Castle and one son Robert Nicholas DeAngelis of New Castle, with whom she made her home. Her family is complete with one grandson Christopher Staph Sr. and wife Laurie and two great grandsons, Christopher Jr. and Logan Joseph. She has always kept in close contact with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five sisters: Mary Scarazzo, Amelia Scarazzo, Evelyn Scarazzo, Clara Tranquillo, and Rita Diana; and two brothers, Frank Cherby and Joseph Cherby.
Calling hours are Thursday from 10AM to 12Noon at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory 3000 Wilmington Road.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 12PM For St. Camillus Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30PM by Rev. Father Robert Miller, pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish, Beaver, Pa.
Entombment will take place at Parkside Mausoleum.
